Ron Francis = awful skater. Awful. - tgropen
I dare you to bring up Sean Couturier and Ron Francis on the same page over in the Penguins thread. Bonus points if username Oneonta Penguin is actively posting. |

It's a Hell of a play. He didn't blow by them, but I'm sure that won't stop everyone from arguing about it for 40 pages. - Flyersgod
I think the primary argument is that you don't need blistering speed to be an elite player.
Good hands, good positioning and overall intelligent play can create scoring chances. |

Tavares, Benn and Getzlaf are 'slow'. Heatley was slow enough to score 50-goals. Pronger was slow. Chara's beyond slow, he's practically stationary. - Tomahawk

Couturier will never have blazing fast speed but it's an area he can work on and improve on. Can't wait until a couple years from now when he fills out. He will e a beast to play against. |

I know. Think of all the odd-man rushes Richards started because he had great anticipation.
I would argue its better to have several things like vision, puck handling and positioning than natural speed. |

You guys don't like what I said? Great. Move on and save us all the time of having a pointless debate. - Flyersgod
The point is, I dont think many people believe he will be elite. He will be very good though.. maybe not Jonathon Towes or Bergeron good, but could be verrrry close. |

Definitely. And it seems like the puck is glue to his stick when he's in the corners. Once he can out muscle guys more, he's going to be a force to play against, IMO. |
