Has to be a move to increase the price for both Washington and Pittsburgh. - SchennBros

Why would the Flyers ask about Halak when they just re-signed their goalie for 4 more years? They wouldn't. Take these rumors with a grain of salt. - PhillySportsGuy
Homer is probably thinking of a goalie tandem. Woukdnt be the first time.
Two positions the Flyers are great at ducking up... G and D |

This worries me. - Flyersgod
The only reason it should worry you is that it might mean that Rayzor is done for the year and they want veteran insurance that can spell Mason occasionally.
Steve Mason is your goaltender for the foreseeable future.
And that's OK. |

Gardiner does not have top pairing potential. Mez did at one point. Gardiner can't defend. There is no way he can ever play top pairing minutes. - PhillySportsGuy
Both guys were potential top-4's with big question marks. Mez was really lucky to jump right into a fantastic situation in Ottawa with support from Redden/Chara/Volchenkov. Gardiner's has... Phaneuf.
Mez bombed big time in his shot at top-pairing minutes w/ Tampa... completely and utterly exposed. |

IMO Halak is not a back-up though. TIm Thomas would be a back-up, but it puts legitamcy behind the Flyers trying to up the price on Halak if they need a goalie. Build up the bid. Wait till he goes somewhere else and get Halak. |

If they want to give up a late pick and sign Halak to a reasonable extension as a backup then thats fine.
I don't think Halak wants to do that, so it's probably not serious.
The Flyers management discusses every player available and then some. |

Mez looked great with Kimmo, Coburn, Pronger and Carle ahead of him.
Loved Mez with Sean O'D. They killed it against the other teams bottom six forwards. |

Yeah. I just don't think you can say Gardiner has potential top pair ability. He's 23 and hasn't even nailed down a regular spot in the top 6 despite numerous opportunities. |

He's 1 year younger than Luke Schenn. You know, the guy everyone thinks has maxed out his potential. - PhillySportsGuy
so ? one guy is sought after by just about every team in the league...the other ? not so much. |

Forwards were great... Marty, Vinny, Stammer, Tanguay, Recchi, Prospal, etc. The D was complete crap. Matt Walker was a regular for them. |

I think there has been some interest in Emery... And he won't stay after this year. I'm not thrilled because I thought Heeter was doing well? I was kinda hoping he'd be ready soonish. Anyone who follows the Phantoms have an idea if he could step into back-up role next season? |

I wouldn't trade Luke Schenn for Gardiner. At least Schenn has shown some ability in the NHL. He's had good stretches. Gardiner hasn't done a thing in the NHL. |

Yeah, he's not top-pairing potential from what I can tell.
Mathieu Dandenault -- skates like the wind, plays the puck like a forward, but the hockey sense of a turnip. |

Thats a possibility. It will be interesting to see what the Flyers do with their backup position. They have always gone cheap, so I assume Heeter will be given every opportunity.
Stolarz should be getting quite a few starts with the Phantoms next season. |

only been in League couple of years....came from college hockey...Schenn was rushed in at 18 years old from Jr....Honestly I don't know if Gardiner will be that good, but he has the tools.....he is all offence.....Schenn is slow but big and physical....when I knock Schenn I don't say he blows or they should cut him...I just don't think he is very good and thats after 6 years in the league....I hope Im proved wrong. |
