Yeah. I just don't think you can say Gardiner has potential top pair ability. He's 23 and hasn't even nailed down a regular spot in the top 6 despite numerous opportunities.

How can you defend L Schenn than say something ridiculous like this?

only been in League couple of years....came from college hockey...Schenn was rushed in at 18 years old from Jr....Honestly I don't know if Gardiner will be that good, but he has the tools.....he is all offence.....Schenn is slow but big and physical....when I knock Schenn I don't say he blows or they should cut him...I just don't think he is very good and thats after 6 years in the league....I hope Im proved wrong.

I don't even want to get into a Luke Schenn argument today. I just don't see why a 23 year old Gardiner has all the potential in the world, but a 24 year old Luke Schenn has maxed out as a third pairing guy.

Don't give me number of NHL games played because Gardiner hasn't been able to crack the top 6 for a few years now.

Homer is probably thinking of a goalie tandem. Woukdnt be the first time.

Yeah, I have a hard time believing that they are after a goalie. I don't think they would want to create a goalie controversy by having 2 number ones. Even if they can move Emery.

Thats a possibility. It will be interesting to see what the Flyers do with their backup position. They have always gone cheap, so I assume Heeter will be given every opportunity.

Stolarz should be getting quite a few starts with the Phantoms next season.

Now Rags are going to sign Callahan for 6M per which is a lot I think.

I wouldn't trade Luke Schenn for Gardiner. At least Schenn has shown some ability in the NHL. He's had good stretches. Gardiner hasn't done a thing in the NHL.

In Schenn's last 3 seasons with Toronto, he missed 6 total games. Gardiner has never been scratched though. He's a regular in their star studded lineup.

Give Schenn a defense partner like Timonen or Coburn and watch him become a top 4 defenseman again.

my god neither do I......as a rookie two years ago he had 30 pts ....last year in the playoffs he had 5 pts in 6 games and was the leafs top D man...this year he has been in Carlisles dog house ...and has fallen out of favor....
he has been a top 6 d man this year.
but alas some still cling to the Hope that is Luke Schenn...I don't.

I wouldn't mind that - depending on what we gave up for him. I had to go check but there are a lot of reasonable years left on his current deal.
That said I doubt it happens.

Mez-O'Donnell was their top pairing and the Flyers 3rd pairing.

I feel like the Roloson year where they went to the conference finals was a bit of a fluke.

That is one name I wouldnt be upset about. I wonder if an even trade of Voracek for Kane could be made....

keep in mind I think its a bad deal.....maybe they think some of the depth will come from the Phantoms?
my point is its the type of deal where by Holmgren probably can make the #s work if he wants to....
