Pointless in a weak draft. Keep him as insurance in the event we lose our top 7 dmen like we do every other year

Flyers have 8 defenseman (Excluding Gill)

I wish they just kept the draft picks this year.

AMac as a rental doesn't thrill me.

He doesn't have to be a rental

I'm fine with the trade, and am willing to let it play out and see what happens.
- MJL

We gave up a guy who is a dynamic top line winger (currently 25th in the league in points) and got a middle pairing d-dman. Thats a bad move right now.

I dont have as much faith as others do in Schenn. I dont think he is gonna turn into some monster minute eating forward clearing, top pairing d-man.

He's got a good two-way game. I think he'll bring a lot more balance to the defense, for sure.

MacDonald is a minutes eater and yet another shot-blocker. Not an individual difference maker.

- PhillySportsGuy

I think he's better than what we have and if it pushes Grossmann or Streit out of the top-4, they'll be better off.

But dealing away more top-90 picks is not good. Neither is the inevitable $$$ extension that is about to come.

The Flyers have to be ready to deal more.

Any truth to them having a chance to land Kesler?

Yes. He's a two-way dman. Logs a lot of minutes. Doesn't do anything exceptionally well, but isn't a liability in either end of the ice.

He was asked to do too much for the Isles. His numbers weren't bad when he was 2nd or 3rd pairing.

Does that really effect the Kesler talk one way or another? I actually think it seems less likely, but maybe I'm wrong?

There is clearly more to come but I don't mind this at all...he is cheaper then what the Pens paid for Murray last deadline ...now giving him a contract and those numbers could be a different story

I agree, just not for him. Unless both Schenns are going for a much much bigger deal.

If they can trade Grossmann or Mez for a 2nd or 3rd and re-sign MacDonald, its not a bad deal.

I don't like losing those picks either. Puts so much pressure on them to hit in the first round.

There are ways to acquire picks though. They can trade down in the draft.

It opens up the possibility to trade a Dman like Grossmann, Mez, or Schenn.

It's a 3 round pick this season and a 2 next season.
I have no issues with a deal like this other than it means someone else is moving.
I wish that someone else was not Mez and was Grossmann.
Having one Titanic speed dman ( lschenn) is enough for me.

No clue. The Flyers are always open for business and are not afraid to make a bold move. I honestly don't know what to expect with this organization.

Kesler is not going to the Flyers. The chances are 0.1%
