I thought that I read earlier that the Gervais thing was not a legitimate rumor. |

We should have traded for Luongo? I would much rather have Mason. - PhillySportsGuy
No I mean Gillis should have just traded Luongo to Toronto or Florida like he almost did instead of trading Schneider to the Devils. |

My take on the deal is that MacDonald is Homers answer to Timonen's retirement. You got a guy who logged 25+ Mins on the Isles, he is certainly capable of playing on the top line but he won't be as effective playing 25+ mins compared to 20 mins. I think Homers plan is to have 3 pairings of guys who can be considered top 4 Dmen and split the time evenly. You got Macdonald Coburn, Grossman Streit and Gus and Schenn. None of these guys are Dunca Keiths or Shea Webers but they are solid Dmen - xShoot4WarAmpsx
I don't think this is the answer to Timonen retiring. Other moves are going to be made. In my opinion, one of Schenn, Grossmann, or Coburn won't be here next Season.

Could be Coburn with MacDonald in the fold -- he could actually fetch something of high value, if packaged with other assets. |

I agree. They needed to just get rid of him. They were so worried about getting fair value. They should have just amnestied him in order to avoid the recapture penalty.
If Lu retires before 2022, the Canucks could be in deep poop. |

I agree. Macdonald was added to get a better mix of guys on our D. Getting Ehrhoff or Edler... that would be addressing Kimmo's eventual absence. |

I would rather them move Grossmann. This team needs defenseman who can do more than 1 thing. Coburn and MacDonald are guys who can skate and play defense. |

Hopefully it is just a backup if the flyers can not accomplish a deal to bring in a defensemen at the draft. |

Yep, at the very least, MacDonald is a mobile guy. I have an open mind on him, will probably spent some time tonight watching video of him. |

Neither Grossmann, nor the assets you could accumulate from trading him, would be very enticing to a team with an Edler, Byfuglien, Yandle, etc to sell, though.
Coburn ++ might be able to get you close.
(Of course, I would rather not move Coburn) |

So Ehlers has 7 goals and 2 assists in his last 7 periods for Halifax. Lets, um, let's get him. |

Hope not. Coburn has looked good this year logging all the tough mins. In my mind it's clearly grossman. |

MacDonald is a good shot blocker type guy with legs. He would be the perfect guy to replace grossman with if he was to be dealt. I really hope that the flyers get rid of him. He is just a detriment to this team this year. Would we actually get any return for a player like that? Or is everyone still blaming his defensive partners? |
