Yep, at the very least, MacDonald is a mobile guy. I have an open mind on him, will probably spent some time tonight watching video of him. - Jsaquella
I feel like he'll be better in a more limited role. Imagine Matt Carle logging big minutes as a #1? It would be a disaster. As a 2nd pairing guy, he's a nice addition. I'm hoping MacDonald can be like that. |

Neither Grossmann, nor the assets you could accumulate from trading him, would be very enticing to a team with an Edler, Byfuglien, Yandle, etc to sell, though.
Coburn ++ might be able to get you close.
(Of course, I would rather not move Coburn) - Tomahawk
Im talking more about a move of Grossmann for a 2nd or 3rd rounder. Try and recoup some picks. |

It just seems rare for a young guy to be traded so much. He's gone from being a major piece to major deals to being had for a 2nd rounder. - PhillySportsGuy

So Ehlers has 7 goals and 2 assists in his last 7 periods for Halifax. Lets, um, let's get him. - PhillySportsGuy
Including tonight he has 20 points in the last 7 games.
I'd like him but his stock is soaring right now |

Downgrade that to a Nature's Valley Granola bar and a six pack of Rainier and you got yourself a deal.
Edit: Oh wait.. you east coasters might not know what Rainier beer is. |

Yea. There are a number of defensman who develop at different paces, but most good defenseman demonstrate glimpses of what they could be in the NHL.
Not sure if Rundblad hasn't gotten the opportunity or just hasn't taken advantage of the opportunity.
I just don't understand the outrage over not acquiring him. Its not like the Bruins traded Dougie Hamilton for a 2nd. |

Believe it or not but playoff teams still value a physical, defensive defenseman. His cap hit isn't a killer either. 3rd pairing defenseman will be getting comparable deals this offseason. Maybe even more. |

the outrage is over philosophies, values and payments, not necessarily Mac or Rundblad as individuals. Unless there is another deal in the works that makes this make sense, the Flyers don't really "need" MacDonald and paid a pretty penny to get him. They need puckmovers. And one was ripe for the picking at low risk/high reward prices.
I hope Mac is a good player for us, but I would like to see them address what I see as a need. But admittedly, I'm just a guy typing in here. |

If they acquire a guy, he won't be playing tomorrow night, most likely.
The Caps are lucky to have the great Penner fit into their lineup at practice tomorrow. A character guy for a character team! |

Lots of guys don't crack lineups with their original teams and go on to be very good players...the list is too long to name, and yes, there are more players who don't make it, but just because the guy didn't crack Phoenix's lineup doesn't mean much, at 23 years of age
Braydon Coburn wouldn't be here if he had cracked Atlanta's lineup

They do need guys like MacDonald. He's a two-way defenseman with mobility. This team is in dire need of defenseman who can do more than one good thing.
The Flyers aren't really in the position to break in a good defenseman. You want to pair Rundblad with Schenn or Grossman or Streit or Mez? |

I could see Washington coming to town tomorrow pissed and handing us a little whooping. Especially if we make a deal during the day tomorrow and we are short scoring or dmen. |
