it's just as easy to sit here and comment on the trade that they did make. I could list names (Ehrhoff, Edler, Yandle, etc.; or seek less experienced guys like Vatanen who is allegedly on the block), and of course they would cost more, but if I'm making moves for a dman, those are the moves I am exploring. Andrew MacDonald is a free agent this year. He is not the piece (I don't think and lord know I hope I'm wrong) that will get them over any kind of hump. They did not need to trade a 2nd and a 3rd for him right now imo.

at this point though, they did and I'm a fan of the Flyers and so I hope it was a good move.

Im not sold on the move either. I just don't think it's as bad as people think. I think MacDonald will be a solid addition as long as he plays 2nd pairing minutes. I would like to see him re-signed and have the Flyers make a trade to help recoup some picks.

giving up 2 picks for spare parts
didn't work out for grossman
didn't work out for kubina
and so on

why not keep those (frank)ing picks and draft your own players

- 2Real

agreed or at least use them in a bigger overall package to acquire a better player. All of this just makes me wish they had signed Carle.

we have a few two-way defensemen. And if we need more, and are going to pay a guy nearly $5M for more than 3 years, which is what is being bandied about, I want more than Andy MacDonald. We need to get rid of our one dimensional shot blocking, hot-potato defenseman and pick up some real talent. And we need to use our assets in a smart way to better achieve that.

Agree 100%. Homer loves those stay at home defencemen, as in "staying at home" watching somebody else lift the cup.

I don't know if I'd say it didn't work out for Grossmann.. That pairing of him and Coburn in the series against the Pens was pretty huge.

There is a good chance we make the big dance this year. Homer has to at least attempted to sure up the blue line somewhat. Plus there could be a bigger move on the way, There was some talk about a one-eyed round robin 6 way trade for keys of coke and maybe a pound of Kesler or something.

This is ridiculous. Ehlers has 3 hat tricks in a row. This is video game poop.

Maybe they are doing something bigger? Who knows. I will wait to judge until tomorrow afternoon.

Grossman is the only d-man that has any nastiness. Although in the playoffs, Coburn's nose gets an attitude and the rest of him just follows it around like Tucan Sam.

Nikolaj Ehlers 3rd straight game with a hat trick a projected 2nd round pick when the season started now a very likely top 10 pick.

Schenn has an edge too. I think having Coburn, Schenn and Grossmann is redundant. I would be open to moving Grossmann now that they have MacDonald. MacDonald can play on the PK.

LEIGHT! But seriously, this is ridiculous. He has 9 goals in the last 8 period.

Edit: So when does Halifax stop playing Drouin in this game?
