I would say that "most" teams, that is the majority, would have Grossmann on a 3rd pairing.
He looks a bit better on the Flyers because the Flyers simply aren't that good on D. - FlyerGuy
Using ice time, I just looked at the top 7 teams alphabetically, And I think Grossmann is as good or better then at least one of the defenseman that 6 out of the first 7 teams are using ice time wise in the top 4.

Nope. My issue with Grossmann isn't that he's not a NHL level guy. ![](https://hbcf.s3.amazonaws.com/images/emoticons/lol.gif) - Jsaquella
I know. I was kidding. I think he'd be a good third pairing guy on a good team. Thats what I hope he'd be for the Flyers. |

I have no doubt that you did.
edit: nothing personal. I was just tossing my opinion out there on Grossmann, and not looking for a 5 page argument.

Can we just agree that Grossmann is a limited 4-6 defenseman, like most of the rest of the Flyers D corps and move on? - Jsaquella
Nope. It's mandatory a pissing match ensues over semantics. |

It would be great if MacDonald & Streit can be a stable second pair, but I'm not thrilled at the prospect of Grossmann-Schenn as a third pair. |

Alright. Im done arguing with you about the Schenns. You have a hatred for them, which stems from nothing. You think Luke Schenn is a 6/7 defenseman and has the upside of Grossman (Even though he's already better than Grossmann). You have a hate bias for the Schenns. |

I cringe every time i read someone calling a guy like grossmann, luke, macdonald, etc a top 4 dman.... bottom 4 pretty well sums up all these guys. Top 4 makes them sound better than they really are. |

Discussing a player, and what kind of player he is, isn't semantics.

I mentioned the same thing a few pages ago. If Grossman is dealt, they could make Gustafsson a regular and have more balance. |

I think they have no intention of making Gus a regular top 6 player. I think that ship has sailed for whatever reason. I think Gus is gone after this year at the latest.

I usually prefer 2nd pair myself. I do think MacDonald's mobility and puck moving ability slots him ahead of Grossmann & Schenn, but he's not a guy who would be playing 25 minutes on a good team.
Ideally, he'll see 18-20 minutes, against secondary competition as a Flyer. |

I would ask what is the basis for that? Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but what's it based on? Just because?
Let's move off of Grossman, and discuss a more relevant player. Why, in your view, is McDonald not a top 4 defenseman in this League?

Berube has been very reluctant to use Gustafsson, for whatever reasons. I get it, and if nothing else, MacDonald is going to play and bring better mobility than Grossmann, Schenn & Meszaros currently do. |

He better be doing well in the AHL with this super skillset the player has. I've never seen the player play a single second. How many games have you seen Runblad play? I have no idea if he's ready for a full time NHL role. - MJL
I've seen a bunch of videos and take the word of scouts. The talent is there if you watch them. His vision and passing ability is unreal

I can't take credit for this, but I think this looks good. Barring any other moves.
Timonen-Schenn
Coburn-Grossmann
Streit -McDonald.
Pairings can be mixed for game situations and on the PK.

Unfortunately you are probably right. He hasn't gotten the chance to play regularly. He will play 4 or 5 games in a row, play 3 good games, struggle in the 4th game, and then he's a healthy scratch for 3 weeks. I don't think Gus is a star, but I think he can be an NHL regular that can contribute. |

Grossmann to (some contender...Montreal? Minnesota? I dunno...) for a 3rd. |
