Decent return, even if Markstrom's stock has fallen quick a bit over the past year or so.

Time to troll the Panthers thread given how they were unanimous this would never happen.

Shawn Mathias is the other player. Not a bad young player, but this deal is still a head scratcher only for the fact that they also dealt Schneider last year. Schneider should still be the #1 goalie in Vancouver, and they should have been shopping Luongo this whole time until a deal like this came up.

I spoke with Mathias' brother at the Roxy over the summer. He'll be fukcin' stoked to be coming home was my understanding.

I still don't understand why they traded Schneider to be honest. I think this just shows you how much is going wrong in Vancouver right now, they've finally decided that this team is simply not good enough and a rebuild is the only way to fix it. They get a couple of decent young players, i'll be intersted to see how Markstrom pans out. But for me, Schneider was young enough and affordable enough to be part of a rebuild, and he should still be a Canuck. Gillis mis-handled this whole situation from start to end.
