So about 800 000 a year....ouch.
- Yeti1181

Meh, if the cap stays around 70-72 million that's like 1.5%?

Just keeps getting worse. 15% of salary retained and now sounds like a prospect going to Florida as well?

Steven Anthony. 7th rounder from 2009. We're all crying about it.

Steven Anthony...ECHL I think. 800K retained per year isn't horrible.
- Nucker101

For the next 8 yrs....

I guess eating 6.4 in cap was better for Aquilini than buying him out.

Yeah, FA refusing to buy him out really (frank)ed us. Hopefully Markstrom turns out to be good to make it worth it.

My question... Does amount retained with Luongo off the roster lessen the recapture number (based on cap benefit while he was here)?
- DrChristianTroy

It would have to, it's money to Lou from the Canucks.

compared to a buyout but a prospect in Matthias coming back... not bad for a goalie with an untradeable contract.
- hillbillydeluxe

can we stop calling Matthias a prospect? He's 26 has played in parts of 7 different NHL seasons. He's basically a vet with mediocre stats.

From the outside looking in....how does the GM in Vancouver have a job? You have two top tier goaltenders so what do you do? Trade both of them for.........meh?

He's a mediocre 3rd liner, I don't get the people who are high on him. He's decent and has some value, but nothing special at all.

Maybe a stupid question, but if Lou is hurt while in Florida and on ltir, does that free up cap space in Vancover for the duration of his injury?

I feel bad saying this but having Lu in the room was a cancer for the Canucks. I'm happy that the nucks can move on from this point in their history, and look forward to the next bunch of stars that'll, hopefully, take us to the promise land.

We ask ourselves the same question all the time. Hopefully ownership is watching.

No the deal isn't bad not great but could have been worse. Figured when clemmensen got waived something was up but honestly though Washington was the front runner.

Thought Clemmensen would have made a good backup to Lack, but I guess he has a ntc and it was easier for Florida to waive him.

hard to call potential as hes 26. but he shows flashes with that skating and size.

i think he can be an extremely effective 2nd liner. mediocre 3rd liner is abit harsh i think
