Something is still better than negative value, like we've been told for the last two years.
I still think Matthias and Markstrom have the potential to be contributing NHLers, and at their ages, they can likely still return. - Fosco
Unless Matthias and Markstrom can contribute it is negative value. Depending on when Luongo decides to hang up his skates, it could be very negative value. |

Open letter to Francesco Aquillini.
For the love of God enough already.
Please send Mike Gillis packing. Do you need to see more. This man couldn't make a decent trade to save his life.
Grabner, S. Bernier & a 1st for Ballard & Oreskovich.
Hodgson for Kassian.
Schneider for a 1st.
Loungo for Markstrom & Matthias. Plus we eat essentially a mil per season & take on all the early retirement risk.
If you keep allowing Gillis to make bad trades the future of this team is doomed for years.
Letting Raymond walk & watching him sign for 200K less than you signed Richards for? Wouldn't a 3rd line of Hodgson C Grabner & Raymond look better than the 3rd line were icing tonight which is Riichardson C Booth & Archibald?
Thank God I turn a profit on my season tickets each season or I would have given them up years ago.
Franny pull your head out of your a-- & stop the madness before it's to late.
A 2 seat season ticket holder since 98. - striker777
1. Jesus Christ, the only alternative was a buy-out.
2. Raymond?
3. Franny is more then likely one of the major problems himself |

Won't get a lot of wins.
But dem saves, GAA, and SV% stats should help.

Florida have a horrible track record at player development so I'm hoping Markstrom can rekindle his promise, which was pretty damn high just 1 year ago. It's really on him that this trade hinges on.
To be honest I wasn't expecting anything at all so this is at least something. Gillis has clearly tempered my expectations. |

For a management group that uses the terms "reset" and "all in". Gillis has to now go "all in" and conduct a proper "reset". If he doesn't do anything else from this point, this team will beyond a disaster. |

They definitely threw him in there too soon. Maybe the potential is still there, maybe he's ruined, we'll see.
In the big picture this goalie thing has been a disaster, but like you said, expectations are tempered. Do you think he can spin this trade to ownership as a win and save his job? |

1 year ago Leafs offered Scrivens and draft pick and asked Canucks to retain $1 mil per year for remainder of his contract. Deal fell apart.
Florida deal was better. GFY Dreger. |

How much salary are they retaining now? Scrivens is better than Markstrom. |

I think it entirely depends on how much of a hand ownership had in many of these deals, which we might never know. If you're also knee deep in the mud, it's tough to call the other guy filthy.
If Gillis is wheeling and dealing on his own he would be fired by anyone who understands hockey IMO. |

The Kings traded Scrivens for a 3rd Rd pick to EDM. Tough to say anyone was too high on him. |

Gillis has moved Schneider and Luongo in last 9mths and has Markstrom, Matthias & Horvat to show for it. Asset management? - fiveandagame
Could turn out incredibly well. Could all go to sh*t. Will take a few years to find out for sure. |

Raymond would be second on the Canucks in goals and fourth in points. That's funny? - Jeffmt
Funny is how he disappears in the playoffs... especially against the top teams in the west. |

It's not negative value.
Negative value would mean the Canucks would have to package a valuable asset with Lou to get anyone to take him—which is what many TO fans claimed.
They got assets in return—how is that negative value? |

And Vancouver is likely going to miss the playoffs because they can't score. If Raymond can help me get to the post season for a million dollars I don't really care what he does after that. |

Negative value would be still paying him with no positive return. That's a real possibility. |
