It's all about value IMO. Gillis could trade Edler for a promising. It's similar to teams who factor in needs when drafting, just get the best player and worry about the other things later, you can always move good players for other good players who play a different position. No way I want Bonino over their other young players who have better pedigrees compared to what Bonino did before this year. - Nucker101
There is absolutely no guarantee that is possible. Far from straightforward.
Anyway Bonino is proving himself at the NHL level. Potential is potential until it's proven. Look at Runblad, touted as arguably one of the top D prospects a couple years ago. PHX basically traded Kyle Turris and Brisboise for a CHI 2nd Rd pick. |

Its funny because in the beginning it was all about the players and making thing better for them. "I am going to make GM place and the Canucks organization a place that player's around the league want to play for." I don't have the exact quote but it went something like that. - thundachunk
It amazed me how many people talked about how desired this destination was for players but he Canucks had trouble landing FA's that were not local home boys. They resigned many of their players for less than value but it was always the same in the interviews... Player mentions the window and money left for player improvements.... which never came. In the years Gillis has been here, players have been treated like poop by him and the coach he insisted on keeping for so many years. It started from the beginning with Linden being forced into retirement.... AV's treatment of Naslund, Grabner, Hodgson, Mahultra and Luongo. Then Gillis' treatment of the same players (not Naslund),,,,
This whole bit about the atmosphere was just propaganda. Gillis is the same personality that no one liked or trusted when he was a agent. His contract negotiations are full of empty promises I'm sure. That catches up to you eventually...

And now if Kesler gets dealt, how are the Sedins going to feel? - whipper334
I don't think they care either way, their wives aren't attractive enough for Kesler to hit on. |

they do have Hampus Lindholm who is their #1 d prospect i could see us getting him with Nick Bonino and a 1st would be a good packages for us let Linhome work in the AHL for a year or 2 and then bring him up after that - Wayoflife88
Naw they won't trade Lindholm. |

@capgeek
In a nutshell: Luongo's recapture penalties are easily manageable if the cap goes up as most expect and if Luongo retires when most expect. |

Provided Markstrom Floruishes under Rolly Mellanson I'd be happy.
Frankly Im just happy to see Lou happy And out of this shytty franchise that has treated him like complete garbage. - vancity787
They were paying him $9 - 10 mil per year on that contract. It's amazing to me people forget that Lu was given a contract that made him one of the highest paid players in the NHL. Do you really consider that "garbage"?
If that's true then I want to be treated like garbage... Just like Lu. |

Did the Canucks get enough in return for Roberto Luongo? The NHL on TSN panel doesn't think so and questions GM Mike Gillis' decision-making.
TSN
love it. Last year they said he was untradeable and now it's "not enough".
Love the piling on. |

Ya if that's being treated like crap where do I sign up, he got the contract he wanted, he remained the starter even being outplayed by his backups, and to top it all off got traded to the only place he wanted to go. |
