This is going to be great.

Valk is right, Torts system isn't working.

His system might be too outdated for the new NHL. He won in TB a long time ago.

Can't believe how this team has NO offense. In one Summer they went from highly skilled offense to shot blocking, mush. Not a fan.

- moondawg

Agreed.

Was a fan of the added toughness and sound defense, but not at the cost of the entirety of our offense.

Awww stop complaining.

We all know the (frank)ing position we are in, give it a rest.

You don't like Gillis, we get it.

none of us do...

- Whiskey-Tango

Gillis has really sh!t the bed though. This is like Milbury type of mess, and eff up.

Torts, Booth, Ballard, Luongo contract, Schneider, good god the list just doesn't end.

Sure the Canucks have made the playoffs the last few years and the leafs missed for 9 years but what do you have to show for it? NOTHING!!! except an aging team with no prospects and the leafs however....are young and going in the right direction.....Maybe, if you guys are unhappy about the entire thing....you guys should.....I dont know riot?
- Kinggilmour

Sports is entertainment and what we have to show for the last 6+ years is plenty of exciting hockey, some great playoffs, a competitive team that had a chance to win every game while playing an exciting brand of hockey, superstar players to cheer for and a stanley cup final run....

Yep you are right I would rather have been a leafs fan the last half dozen years...

I just can't wait for the deadline already. I want to see how this all shakes out. We all knew this was going to be a rough season going in, but the injuries have made it horrible. If Gillis has a good 18 hours I'll consider it a success.

Agree as well, Sedins on the PK was a bad move, but even under AV last season this team sucked offensively so the roster is the bigger issue.

What if it's just tortorella that made the team like this and we are blaming the players and going into a pre mature rebuild? Mind blown?

Kesler being so picky scares me, Shero isn't an idiot and usually does well.

Sure, but some is circumstance.

Schneider outplayed Lou and he consequently demanded a trade. The return wasn't great, but the league took advantage of the situation due to the information being leaked, which could have come from Lou himself.

Torts, ya. Not a fan, like i said before, the toughness and defensive play was great, but the cost was worse. Alternatively who else was out there? Torts, Gulustzan* and Eakins. We got the former two......

See above post. Blame Torts all you want, but he's not the one fanning on one timers, missing passes and getting deaked around.

Get Sullivan as far away as possible for the PP would be the first place I'd start.

lol I dont think it is all that but torts system seems to be sapping the offense out of our already sapped players. injuries have also plaid a huge part. Everyone is just out of sync. maybe some fresh meat will change that...

I wish Lu all the best. Good to see him finally get his wish. As mentioned, the injuries have totally derailed the season. If we can flip some vets and get some of our young guys into some action, I'll be happy with that. With Lu, we might have had a chance of going on a run in the playoffs if we snuck in and the team got healthy. I don't think Lack is quite there yet and what are the odds of getting healthy anyways?

I know the chances of getting an actual answer to this on hockeybuzz are slim to none, but does anyone know the actual language of the cap-recapture penalty in the CBA? I know the basic rule is that whatever a team saves on a front-loaded contract, the have to spread out over the years remaining on the contract once the player retires... However, when a team retains salary and cap-hit in a trade, they are no longer gaining the cap benefit, and are in fact keeping a small cap hit. Could this be applied to the recapture penalty?

It's unlikely, but I'd be interested to know how the rule in the CBA is actually phrased

The team is doing the same as last year the only difference is the Sedins. Look at there point total and you watch them they don't make those crazy plays they used to.

Not to mention the cap circumvention penalty which affected the trade value.

This should have been asked to Gillis but the media here kinda sucks.
