I'm hearing with Datsyuk out 4 weeks the Wings are kicking tires on David Legwand. Zetterberg out for the rest of the reg season as well so

Thats some bad luck right there.

- PhillySportsGuy

We have a hard-working former 20-goal scoring winger available for the taking. He could really help get the PK unit some work, I mean, help with the scoring.

With the return on Gaborik, the walls in the Islanders War Room are starting to look like the trash compacter scene from the 1st Star Wars

His value is plummeting...again depending on price and if part of salary is picked up, maybe Vanek or Moulson...I doubt it but I would love to see a bit more skill with G then Hartnell...again understand its not our pressing need

Brooks Laich on @washcaps losing Marty Erat & gaining Dustn Penner: "We swapped out a perimeter guy for a guy that runs towards the fire."

true especially if there is food cooking on the fire

Not here to gloat, but would you undo the Talbot for Downie trade if you could? Keeping in mind you could presumably move Talbot for some other asset(s) now?
- jmatchett383

I would just to keep Talbot. Play him on the 4th line and move Raffl up to the third line.

Frankly, if Vanek doesn't get traded, the Islanders (frank)ed up big time

IMO, they would have never discovered what they had in Raffl had Talbot been in the lineup.

I have to think that Moulson and Vanek will cost considerably more than Glass Gaborik.

They may not trade him out of sheer embarrassment. He won't get them a first. He'll bring in a depth forward and a couple of picks

They don't seem to want to give Gus a real chance.
MAB may never be able to feel good in a room with a 20 watt light bulb on again.
Manning is a huge work in progress.

- jmatchett383

Sad about MAB. I like Gus. He has some upside. We are more likely to see Morin in O and B before Manning again. And I can't wait for Ghost.

MOAT, your thoughts on Van?

I know you follow them.

- Marc D

That team's coming apart at the seams. Tortorella was the worst possible hire for that team. What you do is take a transition team who scores goals on the fast break and powerplay and make them defensively minded. It was a house of cards.

The Schneider trade was a joke. Torts starting Eddie Lack in the Stadium Series blew a hole in the dam. They went from having two starting goalies to two goalies who don't have what? 20 wins between them?

I'm afraid they'll fire Gillis and keep Tortorella when they both need to go. They've destroyed that team.

I mis-read the question. I meant to say, I would trade Downie for Talbot now, but I would not undo the original trade. I thought Downie helped the Flyers get their offense going to start the season.

Somebody's going to be getting screwed here -- there's only so many dance partners, only so much cap space.

Moulson/Vanek/Cammelleri -- somebody's getting stuck.

On the bright side, one out of Lack/Markstrom/Eriksson will probably pan out as a good starter.

well said

a shame too, they were pretty close not that long ago

I joked the other day that if you have a bunch of aging vets and want them to waive their NTCs, hire Torts to piss them off and demand trades

except that isn't what they were going for

Horvat looks like a decent prospect too. I don't love him, but I think he can be a top 6 player.
