#Devils Clowe + Ruutu will count a combined $9.6 million against the cap for 2 more years. 10 goals, 33 pts in 88 combined games in 2013-14.

Yeah; I don't think you can reasonably roll with nine defensemen. Makes practice unwieldy, even though Gill won't play. You'd just as likely see Gus put on waivers or get sent down, something like that.
- AllInForFlyers

you think Gus would clear waivers?

I'd be more comfortable putting Gill on Waivers

Clowe and Ruutu... Lot of coin, for declining production.

Loving it -- when they bottom out, and they will, the rebuild will be long and painful

I'd rather watch a Pittsburgh feed Pens game and hear "Geno" 47 times per period

They'll release Gill. No real need for him now. They have several big defenseman and several shot blockers.
- PhillySportsGuy

Homer didnt sign Gill with a Full No-Release Clause, did he?

Either/or -- as much as I'd play Gus, I think it's fairly apparent that Berube isn't going to, so might as well try to see if there's another place for him via waivers or get him playing in Adirondack

That's what I'd do -- Gus just isn't going to play here, it seems

I don't think he will. You don't think a team like Edmonton with a poop defense wouldn't take a chance on him?

One report had Flyers offering Vincent Lecavalier and a 1st in 2015 for Kesler to which the Canucks (wisely) said "no thanks."

LMFAOOOO!!! Oh Homer.. you (frank)ing idiot

- justahockeyguy2

why that'd be an amazing deal for the flyers

Gus will get his time. One of the bigger guys will be dealt today, and Gus will be the 7 for the remainder of the year, or until one of the bigger guys fall in the dog house. Next year, I think Gus plays on the 3rd pair, uninterrupted.

Yup. I don't see much interest in him around the league. If there was he'd be gone by now.

Starting to sound like Vanek deal is finally nearing completion. Multiple teams have been in the hunt.

Agree
they got rid of nearly the same player last year in Douglas Murray, they won't want big Nik

- Marc D

Considering the Pens rented Murray for the cost of two 2nds, I don't think the price we paid for MacDonald was steep. Not if he plays well and gets resigned.

They just waived Larsen themselves, who's a better young player, and 29 teams passed.
