vaneks a rental though. i would think they want a roster player plus...
- PhillaBully

I know. Thats why they balked.

I think if Vatanen gets dealt, he will be the centerpiece of a Kesler deal.

Supposedly vatanen is available. Heard he was kimmo's partner in Sochi too. One has to wonder if kimmo came back home, and chirped in homers ear about him.

Kimmo Timonen--Flyers' Official Olympic Diplomat

As one, Michael Bluth would say--

it's common sense tho, anaheim first in the west, has a real high chance of winning this year. why would he turn that down?
- Flyers4Life88

Vatanen for a veteran depth dman in Gross, Downie and a 1st? Probably need to sweeten the pot a little bit. But that gives them proven dman and forward to fall back on in case of injuries.

i dont think thats going to materialize.

Its a shame the Pens wasted all those assets last year on such poop. Kesler would be the perfect player for them.

By shame, I mean YAYYYYYYYY

I would do B Schenn straight up for Sami V...fixes the log jam at center gets Raffl off the 4th line and adds another D man to the mix for next year...it also gives him the time to spend with the Finn warrior Kimmo to learn the ways of playing through pain...

Yea. The Ducks have tremendous depth. Im not sure Downie and Grossmann get to play much on that team. I think they'd be looking to deal Vatanen for a bigger fish like Kesler.

Yeah that would be like trading Schenn for MacDonald. Something I doubt anyone would do given Schenn's potential.

I really hope that the flyers can find a way to get rid of Grossman today. He has the biggest risk for the flyers. He is the most at risk to return to his awful performances in January and the most at risk to get injured with his knee and concussion problems.

- FlyersSteve118

Why is he the most at risk? January was the worst month of his entire NHL career, not his norm. He is at no more concussion risk than any other player. The knees are what they are; he's not in Derian Hatcher territory, though.

That's a very bad deal. No way I trade B Schenn for a decent young defenseman. Has to be a player that is a whole lot better then that coming back for Schenn.

I think its closer than you think. I'd need to see more of Vatanen though. Who is he paired with in Anaheim?

How is it bad? The kid is NHL ready and has proven it everywhere he plays, ANA has a log jam on D and can't get him in the line up. i watch him here in Norfolk...he would fit right away...Schenn is great and I have been against trading him, but with Vinny on the wing and sticking raffl on the 4th line with his talent they just don't have the right players where they need to be...and Morin, haag, anf Ghost are still a few years away...

i mean maybe if they drafted a forward prospect with that first it could be a piece right now. but other than that, i really dont feel like the assets moved then are precluding them now.

I think you may be surprised in the haul Anaheim will get if they deal him.

Yea, hindsight is 20/20, but Kesler for multiple seasons or the poop you got last year?

I think Morrow, 1st rounder, 2 2nd rounders and Sutter get you Kesler.

TSN Tradecenter made it sound like Marty Brodeur was a lost and confused puppy with no place to go and no one to play with.

I almost felt bad.

And then I didn't.

And I laughed.

you think? id take pouliot or despres over morrow. theyre still offering a first. and sutter. granted, two seconds are better than a single third (but the prospect gap in pouliot and morrow is pretty big) and i got the impression that the secondary draftpicks werent the hinging point

Unless he asked to be traded, I don't see the point in moving him. Its not like some team is willing to part with a significant asset for him. Let him play out the season then let him go. If he wants to continue playing, he can take his talents to South Beach with Lu.
