you think? id take pouliot or despres over morrow. theyre still offering a first. and sutter. granted, two seconds are better than a single third (but the prospect gap in pouliot and morrow is pretty big) and i got the impression that the secondary draftpicks werent the hinging point
- stayinthefnnet

Yea. I guess you're right. I just think it helps with depth in the system.

So you wouldn't part with Pouliot as part of the deal for Kesler?

Unless he asked to be traded, I don't see the point in moving him. Its not like some team is willing to part with a significant asset for him. Let him play out the season then let him go. If he wants to continue playing, he can take his talents to South Beach with Lu.
- PhillySportsGuy

They reported that Brodeur asked Lou-Lam for a trade.
Then they said--"why--there is no team he could be a benefit for"
Then they listed a bunch of places where he could be backup.
Then they said "but he's already a backup"
Then they said "unless he just doesn't see where he is at at this stage of his career"

FWIW--They also just wrote and performed an acoustic song about why Bryzgalov could go anywhere but the Wild--there are bears in the Wild, and he's scared of bears.

Espn is reporting that kesler would not waive his no trade to go to the Rangers. Thats funny. They're also reporting that the Rangers and Lightning are back in discussion about St. Louis.

Glad you're back.

If they re-sign him and recoup one of those picks, its not that bad. I think the Rundblad deal tells more about how much he's fallen off than how much the Flyers overpaid.

I can't stand him! Grrrrrr.....

This could become a thing... a special permit hunting season... Bow Season, Rifle Season, Shotgun Season... Pierre Mcguire Season

Im pretty certain Kesler and St. Louis stay put. Im not so certain about Callahan, but I would guess he's staying put too. I don't understand how he can turn down 6yr $6M AAV. Thats more than fair.

yeah exactly. at 6 MM, thats more than fair, and extra compensation for the whole face and captain thing. i wouldnt give him a penny more on principle.

Like Grossmann a lot for the role he plays. Always have. He had an awful month of January. The Flyers now have three D-men who block a lot of shots, though, and you really don't need more than two such players. MacDonald has more mobility than either Grossmann or Luke Schenn (who is actually the one I'd shop but I could understand either of them getting moved).
- bmeltzer

I would much rather keep Schenn than Grossmann. Both had have disappointing seasons, but Schenn is younger, healthier, right-handed and still has room to improve.

That said, I won't do it again, but the crapstorm that caused for the moment was enjoyable.

We could have Phoenix's GM who is finally cashing in on all the Defensive depth with Erat and maybe the last pick in the 2nd round

At this point, does anyone really know what Gillis is likely to do in Vancouver?

I don't see any team giving him more than that. Maybe Buffalo just to help with the development of the team.

Schenn can also move the puck decently for a SAH guy... getting the puck out of the zone with possession, etc.

Grossmann's does one task, and does it pretty well. But you just can't afford to have a uni-tasker in the top-4 anymore, with the depth of attack that top teams are bringing.

Yes. Hold on to his players until he gets the price he wants. Then, trade all of them.

I agree. The team needs more balance throughout the lineup. MacDonald will bring that with his all around game.

I'm excited for his first Matt Carle gaff and the ensuing barrage of insults that will be thrown at Homer

Why is he the most at risk? January was the worst month of his entire NHL career, not his norm. He is at no more concussion risk than any other player. The knees are what they are; he's not in Derian Hatcher territory, though.
- bmeltzer

He's more at risk of a concussion than LSchenn who has never had an NHL conucssion before as far as I know. Grossmann has already had a couple of bad ones as a Flyer, and he doesn't wear a visor. Thankfully Schenn does...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZIOQljb1KY

That said, Grossmann has absorbed some tough headshots this year without getting another concussion. Some Washington goon nailed him up high the preseason and I remember thinking - Oh no, it's going to be another one.
