So he's worse than Gustafsson, but if he signs you're OK with it?

That's kinda bi-polar, even for you

Then why don't you wait and see what happens before condemning the trade as a colossal failure?

If he likes it and wants to stay at a reasonable rate, then fine. But if he's hell bent on getting open-market rate, I don't care what they gave up to get him, I would hope Homer would move on.

A-Mac isn't bad, but he's not anywhere near as good as Hjalmarsson, Ericsson, Vlasic and other guys in the $4M+ range. $3M+ is more than fair for a player of his history and skill set.

- Tomahawk

You might as well resign your self. The Isles offered him 4 yrs at 4 per and he turned it down according to reports.

True, but Callahan also isn't worth what he was demanding.

And his ass is in Tampa now.

I would be ok with $4M. I just see the numbers for defenseman jumping up this offseason. Its better to overpay for a guy who will contribute than leave your team without any two-way depth.

Cap is rising and so is the price of a defenseman. It sucks to pay it, but you might as well try and get a .25M-.5M discount with an internal player vs. paying market for a player of that caliber.

I'd like to see Gus play over Meszaros, but he's far from being a savior. MacDonald is definitely better in his own end, and at the very least he's mobile and can play the puck a bit.

That's my point. No matter what the market dictates, the player may want more, and someone may be willing to give it to him.

He gives the team more flexibility. They don't have to juggle pairings so much to put certain players in certain situations. They can look to roll the pairings more often.

I guess it could be worse. Snow could have got Tinordi, Fucale, or Beaulieu. Luckily he snared Collberg.

So would I, if I was him. Vanek turned down a mammoth offer from them as well. No one wants to play for the Islanders.

With Meszaros gone, who is next up on the healthy scratch list so Gustafsson can play?

Yep. The coach is going to be more likely to play MacDonald than he was Gus or Meszaros, and now they have a guy who has decent mobility who isn't necessarily an adventure in his own end.

Oh, rigth, I forgot, it's you: Glass is half empty, therefore it's not even close to full.

Yes, it's 1000% impossible he resigns because he's not resigned yet.

And this TDL was a huge fail because we didn't trade our best defenseman.

If he wants more, adios, then sign somebody similar for the $3M he was worth... plenty of players like him out there.

Then apply the difference to addressing the real need... top-pairing guy to replace Kimmo.

Its so sad. They just have a terrible environment. MacDonald didn't demean the Isles in his interview, but he looks very happy to be with the Flyers.

Even Streit was smiling when they got MacDonald. He's happy to be with an organization that will go out and get better at the deadline.

Except we don't know the details of the Mez deal yet so how you can try and make that analogy?
