yeah i was able to follow up until about 145, 2 oclock. vanek was the big surprise to me. i honestly have no interest in trying to sign him for a mega deal this summer, but for a rental in the purest sense possible, id have been all over it for that cheap of a deal. same for moulson.

It doesn't matter. The only top end defensemen will be available by trade. There aren't any in free agency. We just traded for one of them.

If you're trading for one you'll be moving salary also so there's no sense counting cap dollars now.

for a second i would have just viewed it totally as a one night stand. who cares about trying to get him into a contract. not worth the money. but maybe a few playoff goals on crosby or girouxs wing? its not a first. thats worth it to me.

if the isles kept moulson, picked up a goalie and just improved their 5/6 defensemen they could still be in the hunt (with a healthy tavares)
