So they gave LA 2 2nds for the prospects they acquired (and Brayden McNabb), and got the 2 2nds back from MN, which will most likely be slightly better positions.

Good point, that was a decent waiver wire pickup.
- nfph

I don't think he's going to make a huge impact here, but there was no reason not to kick the tires on him for nothing IMO.

The main piece in the Vanek trade was Collberg though.
- HonkFortheGoose

And Colberg was a 2nd and now the Sabres have two kicks at the can to get a comparable prospect. Not to mention Moulson is not on Vanek's level as a player so I like this pickup based on today's market.

I imagine it breaks down to McCormick for Mitchell and Moulson for 2 2nds. Not bad, Tim. Not bad.
- Jawallstar1

The seconds wash, essentially it was:

BUF LOSES
Moulson, McCormick, Halak, 3rd, Mcnabb
BUF GAINS
Fasching, Delauries, Neuvirth, Klesla and Mitchell

So it really all pivots on how well Fasching and Delauries turn out.

So here we go again: From the start of the year

Lost:
Miller-was leaving
Ott-was leaving
Vanek-was leaving
Moulson-was leaving
McNabb
Halak-was here for 2 days
McCormick
2 2nd round picks
1 third round pick

Acquired:
Stewart-signed for another year
Neuvirth-signed for another year

D'Agostini-waiver pickup
Konopka-waiver pickup
Conacher-waiver pickup
Mitchel
Fasching
Deslauriers
Klesla
a 2015 First (St Louis)
a 2016 third (could be a 2014 1st rounder St Louis)
a 2014 or 2015 First
a 2014 Second (NYI)
a 2014 Second (MIN)
a 2016 Second (MIN)

Not counting Omark in here

The bolded is what TM did in the last 5 days

I think TM has done a pretty decent job putting his stamp on the organization

Not a home run, but we did pretty well.

By the way, TM is locked into the NHL old boys network - and he's made what I would call equitable trades with St Louis, Washington and the Wild here. It's not a bad thing to develop trust and relationships with other GMs.

I don't count Snow because a) that wasn't TM's trade and b) he can't possibly be a GM still next year.

Can he?

- nfph

I mentioned to a friend earlier that it would be hilarious if Snow gets fired and they hire Regier before the decision of what year's 1st rounder they're giving us is made. If Darcy has to make that decision, it will be the weirdest thing ever.

Alright, Leino got the dead weight of Moulson, McCormick, Ott, Omark, Vanek, Pominville, Tropp, & Gerbe out of his way. Watch the fireworks.

Barring trades at the draft or over the summer, here is what the roster appears to look like for next season:

G- Enroth, Neuvirth
D- Myers, Ehrhoff, McBain, Weber, Risto, Ruhwedel, Pysyk
F- Leino (buyout hopefully), Hodgson, Stewart, Ennis (RFA), Stafford. Mitchell, Girgs, Foligno (RFA), Conacher (RFA), Flynn, Ellis

Current contracts, not UFA's. We need more forwards lol.

I think he made appropriate moves and given what the other teams brought in I'm satisfied. Next test will be the draft and free agency.

About 20 pages ago I unveiled my concept for an interchangeable Sabres jersey. I might actually make one.

It would be a great marketing move. I've been thinking of something like that for a while.

Well it won't look like that, also you missed Stafford. But it will look like that for the rest of the year and it has to be a contender for the worst team ever iced in the modern NHL.
