At least Canuck fan anger is now aiming where it should have been the whole time: Harold Ballard. .. I mean, Aquilini. He's responsible for the clown front office and clown coaching. I wonder how much the net worth of the Canucks has tumbled over the last few months. It will be interesting to see the new Forbes numbers next year. - bazz
It is true that all decisions land on him ultimately. Its his GM hiring that he can let go at any time. If he feels he has to make the moves over MG's head, its FA's own doing. own it and move on. Find a competent GM.
On the other hand... if people believe MG is a puppet GM,,,, start giving all that past credit MG has gotten to a owner who did well with our past success. Cant have it both ways can we?

Halak for a (frank)ing 6th - Nucker101
Wow. That's shockingly low.
Bumps up Enroth's value in the pool
Any interest?
I'll give you a bargain price just to get you back in the trading mood.
EDIT: I see Nuevirth is included in the deal.
Damn. Competition |

No matter what the story is there is no reason for Gillis to play the role of GM. If FA dont trust him....fire him. And if Gillis is not in control, he should decide move on. - boonerbuck

Hopefully Canucks string together a lengthy losing streak to close out the season and land a top 5 pick. Trade Kesler for some young talent, try ditch Booth and Burrows and then Mctank for Mcdavid next season. I'll be so pissed off if Canucks win another game this year. |

Penguins offers for Kesler were parts of a player-prospects-pick but never the whole trifecta. Canucks decide to wait. |

Snow trades Moulson + 1st (top 5) and 2nd for Vanek then trades Vanek for Collberg and conditional 2nd and we are harping on Gillis. Not trying to defend Gillis but we could be in a lot worse shape if we had Snow as GM. Just saying. |

Remember Kesler is the one providing the very short list of where he'll accept a trade to. Im not so sure that list is going to grow for some reason between now and June. also, Kesler will lose 1/3 of his playoff opportunities from a suiters point of view.
The cap will be easier to work with this summer. That is probably the biggest advantage for waiting. More teams... I doubt it. - boonerbuck
More teams who have the flexibility and cap space to make it happen. By waiting they allow more teams to bid more. |

No matter what FA did, it's Gillis's fault. Sound like FA's plan from the beginning, a "Yes Man" and "Fall Guy" all in 1. - A_SteamingLombardi
Maybe,,,, but I doubt that FA has been as sinister in his meddling and as long as some think. I think he started to get too involved recently with the Schndeider trade and showing up with hat in hand at Luongo's house followed up by leaning on Gillis to pick Torts(it was rumored Eakins was Gillis' man). Its not a stretch to suggest that those are clear signs of FA letting Gillis exhaust his decisions on the GT handling while also sticking with AV past his due date further damaging this team.
Right now, the Canucks got rid of one player who wants off the team and have to deal with another. Both guys considered the core leaders.... all the while eyebags say this stuff is not a distraction. Three seasons now we are dealing with core leaders who want off the team. Three seasons of decline and embarrassment. No distraction, not at all.

I am really happy with this TDL. We get rid of a bad contract in the current CBA and a side show and trade 1 dmen for a pick. For anyone that does not know it means we will not have to carry 8 dmen every game. That means guys like Jensen, Gaunce, Grennier (SP) will now get a chance to play on the big club as showcase to see exactly where they are in development and skill set and then use the off season to trade assets and sign FA to fill those holes. And to top it off we got a 5th rnd pick for an extra D and saved over 2mil in cap space. This is a win. |

Not sure what to credit either of them for. The best Canuck seasons came from the Burke-Nonis and, I believe, the McCaw shtshow core. Other than some tinkering -- yes, Erhoff was a good pickup -- this gang had ridden the coattails of past regimes. |
