I know our franchise is a mess right now, but this is funny..

Garth Snow has traded Nino, Moulson, 1st, 2nd for Collberg, Clutterbuck, 2nd, 3rd

I honestly feel bad for Isles fans.

Apparently THN doesn't think much about Gillis' handy work at the TDL:

Vancouver - The Canucks and, especially, GM Mike Gillis are easily the biggest losers of the trade deadline. The shocking trade of Roberto Luongo on Tuesday shook the fan base and made everyone question what Gillis’ plan was, or even if he was still in charge. On top of that, Ryan Kesler, who wants out of town, was not traded, so that negative storyline will hang over this team for the rest of the season. And the last thing the Canucks need is another one of those distracting them. This team is heading down a very confusing path and whether or not they make the playoffs is secondary at this point – what the heck is next for the Canucks in the summer?

I'd heavily argue that the Islanders are by far the biggest losers. They gambled on Vanek and lost a top 5 pick.

MG may be bad, but he's not Garth Snow bad

If we're talking Sutter + late 1st + late 2nd as the better offer I'm positive that we can at least match that at the draft.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist at all man, but jut how this has all played out seems a bit fishy to me. I think it all starts in Pittsburgh too.

Garth Snow is an idiot. That trade line alone should get him arrested.

Are you suggesting Shero had a talk with Kesler in Sochi?

@MurphysLaw74: 2014 NHL Entry Draft is in Philadelphia. I wouldn't be surprised if the Flyers who were in on Ryan Kesler trade talks, get him then.

Don't disappoint Homer!!!

From the media`s negative view of Lu`s contract and the idea the Canucks were going to have to eat a large portion of it or take an undesirable contract back to unload it, what is at issue with the trade? I wouldn`t be surprised if Gillis turned down a comparable offer, but Lu had an NTC and held the hammer... Is the media upset that he didn`t want to play for the Leafs?

If Gillis wasn't getting a good deal for Kesler, why accept a sh!tty offer for him?

I'm embarrassed to be a Canucks fan today. I've never felt this way before, not even during the 2011 riots. FA has to buck the (frank) up, and look for new management. For him to do that though, he has to accept that signing Torts/Gillis to exuberant contracts was his fault; but I doubt he admits he made a mistake.

This is a mess. Were happy about the prospect of watching a young team develop but it almost feels like people assume that any collection of ok prospects are going to gell this team into its past short lived glory in a few years. What are the chances that it will happen? Less than people think. This club wasted the opportunity it had for further playoff success. This team should be marching into the playoffs and expected to do damage. This is the polar opposite. Ill supply the tar and feathers...

I'm paraphrasing here but in one of the original reports it was said that Kesler would really like to play for Bylsma and that Bylsma would love to have him.

How would a best writer get that information?

Even without trading Kesler and the possible return, there is a lot of potential drama next year. Can Burrows and Daniel bounce back? Will Santo be resigned and continue his previous good play? Will any of the prospects earn a spot in the top 6 or 9? Will any of the d-core be traded over the summer?

Will Booth be bought out?

Free agent signings with unexpected cap room?

They'd maybe take a comment like "I've enjoyed playing for Bylsma on Team USA" and stretched the rubber band to the furthest extent and claim Kesler demanded a move to PIT.

Personally I think Bylsma is a mediocre coach surrounding by stellar players that like him a lot.

I was calling for Gillis to get canned over a year ago but I'll now take it up a notch and say nearly everyone in the front office needs to go. Whether that's possible or not I don't know but Gillis, Gilman, and Tortorella all need to be replaced IMO.

If the Aquilini family insists on being as involved in decision making for hockey transactions (as is rumored), they need to go too. I think it was Tessier who tweeted that Crawford & Nonis had to go to them & basically say "let us do our jobs or fire us" back when they were here. Ridiculous.

How different would things have been had Tom Gaglardi (sp?) won his suit against the Aquilini's for control of the Canucks.

As a long time Canucks fan - I for one am tired of this organization. Gillis nor the ownership have a clue of what to do and can't get on the same page. If ownership actually put the brakes on dealing Kesler to make the playoffs, they need to lay off the BC bud! Our chances are slim to none and if its to get into the playoffs to generate revenue - get serious! Canucks fans pay a ton of money to go to games as it is and its ridiculous to think ppl are going to be pumped to make the playoffs when we all know this team isn't going anywhere. Gillis trades both of our starting goaltenders in a year and yet were to believe Lack is the answer to a long playoff run or something??? It's just really sad. Fire ownership, Gillis, and Tortorella. Trade Kesler in the off-season, buyout Booth, bring in some young talent via free agency and start the rebuild. This franchise needs a face lift - let's start now!!

They are going to pursue a sniper big time this offseason. We have $12M in cap space next year, even without buying out Booth.

Who would we want to target: Vanek, Moulson, Cammalleri, or Callahan (not really an sniper, but is a Torts guy) ?

If you actually believe that, maybe you should lay off

With the most recent rumours that the offers were even worse than what we're reported leading up to the TDL, it's a damn blessing that they didn't trade Kesler.

Just to clarify - Isles hold the choice of giving the 1st pick this year or next year, and can decide after the draft lottery. So if we end up with a top 5 pick we could still keep it and give away next years.

I'm not disputing Snow sh!t the bed this season, we all knew coming into it we needed a real nhl goalie, another defenseman and a top six forward, and that was before we lost two of our defensemen to long term injuries and our top goalie was a 38 y/o prone to injuries. Our coach is a fred flintstone looking tool who has us trying to play firewagon oiler's hockey from the 80's with no defense or goaltending and has his centers decide if it's time to call timeout.

TLDR draft pick is top 10 protected, Snow and the Isles coaching staff need to be fired and our owner is a cheap jacka$$ who knows squat about hockey.

*also, oh boy. I have had tickets to monday's game since christmas. No JT, no Vanek, no goalie, no defense. I fully expect the canucks to score 2-3 goals to break out of their offensive slump and we should be shut out. our coach will pull the goalie with 3 minutes left down 2 goals to surrender the empty net goal to cap off the night.

The problem is, these are pretty much the only 4 guys available that would be worth going after. They are going to get paid a boatload and team will regret the contracts quickly.
