If you actually believe that, maybe you should lay off
With the most recent rumours that the offers were even worse than what we're reported leading up to the TDL, it's a damn blessing that they didn't trade Kesler. - Fosco
I agree guys are getting a little carried away. You don't trade a selke trophy winner away for scraps.
Did anyone see the practice today. His team mates and coaches were looking pretty happy Kesler did not. |

As a long time Canucks fan - I for one am tired of this organization. Gillis nor the ownership have a clue of what to do and can't get on the same page. If ownership actually put the brakes on dealing Kesler to make the playoffs, they need to lay off the BC bud! Our chances are slim to none and if its to get into the playoffs to generate revenue - get serious! Canucks fans pay a ton of money to go to games as it is and its ridiculous to think ppl are going to be pumped to make the playoffs when we all know this team isn't going anywhere. Gillis trades both of our starting goaltenders in a year and yet were to believe Lack is the answer to a long playoff run or something??? It's just really sad. Fire ownership, Gillis, and Tortorella. Trade Kesler in the off-season, buyout Booth, bring in some young talent via free agency and start the rebuild. This franchise needs a face lift - let's start now!! - deuce22
The beauty of this fanbase is that they vote with their wallet. They had a heck of a time selling out the Heritage Classic and had to heavily discount tickets to do so. They had troubles selling out even in the playoffs last year and had to release tickets at 50% off.
Tortorella's Canucks play a really drab brand of hockey and fans have certainly taken note. If the team doesn't shape up the empty seats will force them to. |

I am not saying they should have traded Kesler with the rumored deals. That Pitts rumored package was god awful. I am just saying that ownership better not or should not interfere with the GM. Unless they told Gillis not to deal Kesler b/c they don't believe in Gillis' ability to get a quality return, then I commend ownership. I just want to see a clear direction as to where this team is going.... |

I was calling for Gillis to get canned over a year ago but I'll now take it up a notch and say nearly everyone in the front office needs to go. Whether that's possible or not I don't know but Gillis, Gilman, and Tortorella all need to be replaced IMO. - AlexF
It wont change a thing, ownership controls this show, I said it before billionaires are control freaks, that is how they became billionaires. We need a billionaire who knows how to delegate "Paul Allen, please save us" |

Not sure why people are calling the Canucks clear losers of trade deadline day. I would have loved to trade Kesler for a nice package (he he he... nice package) but if the offers are what we are hearing they were then why move him? Going to be an exciting draft. |

Fans are fickle:
Don't let Gillis trade Kesler/Edler etc he'll screw it up and give them away for nothing! GMMG sucks!
I can't believe Gillis held onto Kesler/Edler etc and didn't take "rumored, imaginary, unsubstantiated Twitter/Hockeybuzz/HFBoards offer". GMMG sucks!
Luongo is unmovable and his current contract is going to kill us, we should trade him for a bag of pucks! GMMG sucks!
Luongo is one of the top goalies in the world and I can't believe all we got was a prospect and a 3rd line center! GMMG sucks!
I can't believe Gillis hands out NTC's like they are Halloween candy! GMMG sucks!
I can't believe we got player X to sign/re-sign below his market value! GMMG still sucks though I can't explain why in this case

Ill gladly watch those last 19 games. If they make the playoffs, great. If they dont, I'll be counting down the days to the draft.

If you win a Cup all sins are forgiven, in this case, he hasn't, therefore let's throw the bum out!

Even without trading Kesler and the possible return, there is a lot of potential drama next year. Can Burrows and Daniel bounce back? Will Santo be resigned and continue his previous good play? Will any of the prospects earn a spot in the top 6 or 9? Will any of the d-core be traded over the summer?
Will Booth be bought out?
Free agent signings with unexpected cap room? - hillbillydeluxe
This is not a "total mess" as Booner says, it's not like we don't have some very good players on the roster. Do I think GMMG is a tard, yes, that said, Henrik, Kesler and Matthais down the middle is much better than most bottom feeder team. Plus our defence is solid.
What needs to change is the management and coaching, only then will you see some positive progress with younger players. |

Yep. Absolutely agree it is time for him to go. He's done a great job of signing guys below market value but at the expense of having to hand out NTC's. His trade record is spotty at best and he seems to overvalue his players even more than most fans do.
If Lu had been a little more open to a trade and willing to go to more places than FLA/TB he would have been traded a couple of years ago. Let's not forget that.
I just find it interesting how the general consensus was that Lu was a goalie in decline with a terrible contract that was going to sink this club but now that he's been traded to FLA general consensus is it was a great pickup by them and a terrible move by us.

Happy with today's proceedings.
We did not throw our biggest assets away for scraps nor did we jettison our future for rentals.
One thing is clear, changes within management need to happen this off-season, be it Torts, Gillis or at the very least......i hope to christ Stevens.
I will say this, regardless of the Schneider loss i do like the Lou trade, to get anything of significance in return is a blessing, most notably a reliable third line center, one of which we have been pursuing for years and the best ranked goalie prospect doesn't hurt either.
If anyone can develop Markstrom it would appear to be this organization
At this point i do hope we miss the playoffs however i will be watching every game regardless of outlook.

The positive to the Schneider trade is as good as he has been this year his team is no closer to the playoffs than we are and next year he'll be looking for a LT 6-7m/year contract...does anyone want to pay a goalie that much money again anytime soon???
The positive to the LU trade is it got us out of most of the contract. We were going to be burned by cap recapture regardless of what happened, this way FLA gets to share some of that burden and we free up 4.6mil in cap space |

They didn't have to do anything, so it's not a huge disappointment. The biggest concern is what we will get for Kesler at the draft, and what the (frank) is going on with the owner, GM and coach. |

I'm thinking that torts Is gonna be here for awhile he signed a 5 year deal. Your not gonna fire a guy after season 1 of 5. Hopefully Gillis is gone though |

this concerns me, would a new gm even really matter? If FA is that involved new gm still has to answer the bell.. Can't really replace the owner, so ride this ship til the wheels fall off?
Hopefully we draft 6-8 and pick a decent prospect, unload kes for more then the crap was offered today and a D. Would really like to know the 3-5 year plan though.... |

If Gillis goes Torts goes. If Gillis stays still have to look at moving torts. Somebody should be held accountable for the terrible season.
Great non-trade though. Seriously thats awful. 1st, 2nd Sutter. |

What else are they going to write and talk about, it means nothing to me because I don't follow twitter and I find the idiots who write sports in BC to be drier that 150 year old vag.
Hockey for me is entertainment, something to watch while I work, I'm a Canuck fan because of were I was born and because that is the team that's on TV the most. This site is also entertainment, but if what someone else says about my entertainment gets to me then I'm to emotionally attached to my entertainment and I should get laid. |
