if this is true, you have a huge mess on your hands, melding owners are franchise killers
- Flyfreaky

I think Gillis should resign in the off season from the GM post and keep the president post. He is a good businessman that hates the media. That way he can focus on growing the brand and increasing revenue and create the filter between a GM and owner. Then hire Linden to be a GM. Well liked by peers, players and media. Fans will think twice before roasting him. And torts absolutely needs to go. He is too old fashioned and his style does not mesh with the makeup of this club. The coaching position has changed. Players no longer need skills coach but rather motivators and systems coach. Torts is neither. He is all about teaching players how to play. I am a huge Nucks fan and I have not seen a team so confused during a game. A play should come naturally for a guy like Edler and not him double thinking what he should be doing. This is not peewee league. These are professionals with years of great coaching. This is the reason why AV was always so successful during regular season. AV inability to change systems and adapt is what got him killed during playoffs.

Linden us not the answer as gm, we need a good experienced gm to rebuild. Doug Maclean would be the perfect fit.

Doesn't matter anyways, if we fire the GM and it's true that Aquilini is the puppet master nixing this trade/that trade, what makes you think he won't have his hand up the next gm's A$$ as well?
If he fires gillis and this is true, then he should pull a Jerry Jones and just be an owner/GM himself.

- I-own_da-Northwest

Exactly - And if true, MG takes the fallout while FA sits in his office unaffected by his own bad decisions.

Whats the deal wit Gaunce? I know he's being used in a defensive role, but under a PPG for his age/size in junior is pretty discouraging, especially if he's on the PP.
- Nucker101

Here's some insight from and Erie Otters fan on Gaunce's play from HF (saw you lurking on the board earlier but this was posted after);

"Gaunce isn't being used in a scoring roll. He's playing with Wood and Wigle in a checking role and doing it well. No need to panic. He was never going to be the type of player to put up numbers offensively anyways. At the professional level he's going to be the type of guy who scores by going hard to the net and scoring in the dirty areas. What's important are his defensive and faceoff capabilities. That's what going to translate to the professional level and he does it better than just about everyone in the OHL right now."

Basically, he hasn't been on a line with any offensive players for quite a stretch of games. Obviously this still isn't good news, since he was able to put up points with low-level linemates on Bellville, but I'm not worried. He's still 3 points over a point/game on the year, as well.

Gaunce will be an NHLer. He's a smart player.

Hate to say it but.............i highly doubt Burke would have any problems telling ownership to take a hike.

Funny how Burke was let go the year Aquilini bought into the franchise.

It would be really nice to see one of these a-hole owners who throw their gm's under the bus to take some ownership of the situation.

If FA nixed the exact same deal last year because he was too cheap to take on a portion of the salary, he's causing the downfall of this club. He's embarrassing management. He's the one who's creating a bad stigma for potential fa signings.

Here's what ownership should do. Hire the right people, have the confidence in them to do their job and let them do it. If management isn't performing up to expectations, remove them and get someone else. Otherwise, stay the hell out of hockey decisions. I bet it was FA's decision to put all the fancy LED lights in the stanchions to make the place look like all ages dance club.

Fans are fickle:

Don't let Gillis trade Kesler/Edler etc he'll screw it up and give them away for nothing! GMMG sucks!

I can't believe Gillis held onto Kesler/Edler etc and didn't take "rumored, imaginary, unsubstantiated Twitter/Hockeybuzz/HFBoards offer". GMMG sucks!

Luongo is unmovable and his current contract is going to kill us, we should trade him for a bag of pucks! GMMG sucks!

Luongo is one of the top goalies in the world and I can't believe all we got was a prospect and a 3rd line center! GMMG sucks!

I can't believe Gillis hands out NTC's like they are Halloween candy! GMMG sucks!

I can't believe we got player X to sign/re-sign below his market value! GMMG still sucks though I can't explain why in this case

Mentality in Vancouver seems to just be negative by nature. How on earth are we going to get a young second line center for our 29 year old second line center? Anyone.. Seriously to get a second line center we need to trade a dman. I'm willing to bet none of our higher paid dmen with ntcs will move. So the answer here to me is so simple it hurts. Develop your players play the system as a team and go get some points. If they hadn't signed torts to a 5 year contract or whatever he would already be fired. Unfortunately he's going to be here a while. They have been saying we need youth for a while next year its time. Just put in corrado, Jensen, horvat and possibly shinkruk if hes healthy enough I bet he would look great with kesler

By finding the right trading partner - someone in win now mode who wants to trade an unknown for a known.

I can't believe they have started to announce "It's powerplay time!". We know it's a powerplay, we saw the penalty called. Who do they think we are, the Panther fan?

Edit: Secondly, who cares? This team doesn't do anything with the advantage anyway... Torts uses the time to employ a better defensive strategy.

So according to TSN the NHL is now forgiving the NJ Devils and removing the $$ fines from the Kovalchuck cap-circumventing contract and also changing the ruling on their pick from having to forfeit a 1st rounder to having it moved to 30th overall...

So does that mean they're going to now lessen the cap recapture penalties on Lou's contract?

Seems kind of BS that one "illegal contract" gets forgiven yet another is still being punished.

I guess the fact that Kovalchuk fled to the KHL is a factor.

Still, another sketchy proceeding in an already crooked set of rule changes...

How bush league is the NHL letting NJ off the hook for the Kovalchuk recapture penalty and giving them the 30th pick back?

Can you say precedent set? the Luongo recapture penalty doesn't scare me as much as more. You can't let one team of the hook and not let off others. All these contracts were signed under the same CBA and under the same rules.

Apparently the Ducks are pretty pissed! They thought they had a deal but Aquillini ended up turning it down too late and they were unable to make other alternative deals. They cleared up all that space to get a player and say they thought Kesler was done and the delays from the Nucks made them end up getting nothing.
- Iggysbff

More baffled than pissed. I'm pretty sure this was the offer:Ottawa's first, the higher second rounder, Rickard Rackel and Sami Vatanen. Murray might have thrown in the other first instead of the second but that I don't know. Was that enough?
