If Gillis is going to start to rebuild this team then fuking do it. The current roster is in ruins and he just traded his starting goaltender. If that is the extent of his moves then what a total waste of time.

The offers won't get worse by the summer. This isn't the same as Luongo.

If the offers aren't good enough, he would be stupid to waste a trade chip like Kesler...

At the very least I don't see how this warrants more criticism.

Despite all the criticism MG made a big league deal. The "untradable contract" was tradable after all and we got great return IMO. Also Gilmans involvement has made this recapture issue almost a non issue. I personally as well as DCT thought the best scenario was buyout. This makes the deal not only palatable it makes it a the best deal for the player ownership and the team moving forward.

Possible, but I don't think PHI is interested in paying Gillis's price for Edler.

I still think they could make a last minute effort for Kesler, though.

Luongo spoke to TSN's James Duthie on the phone this morning, and while he sounds a little sad to realize that he's really leaving Vancouver, he said that he spoke to his agent Pat Brisson after the Heritage Classic debacle and Brisson took matters into his own hands, contacting Florida himself.

Like the Luongo trade? Thank his agent who took matters into his own hands and got the ball rolling by contacting Florida about a trade himself. This deal wasnt available last season either...

Wow if this is true then Aquilini is going to run his own team into the ground. The odds are pretty low for this team making the playoffs with this roster and it's current position. I honestly think he makes Gillis look worse than he is.

I get the feeling that this is going to turn into a "rip Gillis a new one" kinda thread, but I actually salute him.

It's rare that a GM sees a window closing and decides to rebuild. They usually just go into self-preservation mode, making a series of trades that sacrifice the future for the present.

I'm sure that a lot of Canucks fans are going to think that I'm just trolling here, but I sincerely feel this way.
