From 2013 TDL:
"No way either Lou or Schneider get a top-10 pick in a deep draft, and no way FLA deals for Lou when they have Markstrom waiting in the system...better take Komi and a 3rd"
-almost every Leaf fan - Fosco
This. You could also add in that Lu's contract was totally untradeable. |

Good move for the Kings, assuming Gaborik can stay healthy. All depends on the return of course. |

Who are they bidding against? Won't take a ridiculous offer to beat Detroit or Pit. |

That whole thing has been oversold... The acquiring team has minimal recapture risk & if they like Lu (& convince the Canucks to retain salary), they get a guy who's perceived as "world class" for $4.5 per through the rest of his career (which is relatively cheap hit these days) moving forward. They dont have to worry about him retiring early... We do. Although the retained salary will help. |

If Luongo's agent got him traded without even discussing with him, Luongo should fire him - even if he did end up where he wanted to go. This all reeks of BS to me. - docmorgan
The Elliot piece says that Luongo talked to his agent, who then talked to management who then gave the green light for his agent to make the call to the Panthers.
Somehwere, someone has left something out, or added something.

Gaborik is elite when healthy and they need the scoring. I wouldn't call that an all-in move but definitely a bit more than your average rental. |

I can do a mean (literally & figuratively) Bryan Murray impression... Maybe I'll call up & throw Ottawa's hat in the ring... Spetscha, Karlschenn & a Firsch Round Pick. |

I think we all need to step away from the Twitter circus for a bit and come back at 12pm to see what actually happened. |

I think the unmovable contract label was a media creation. The contract was always movable if Luongo was willing to widen the choice of teams he would like to talk with or Gillis had been more realistic with the situation. Even Luongo misused the term yesterday. Last year, the contract was unmovable to Florida would have been more accurate.

I was referring to all the trolls that said Luongo would never be traded because his contract was unmovable. |
