I like his stats and size. Not a bad guy to put on the phantoms and see what hes got. - PhillaBully
Strange to see a Swedish kid go the American junior > NCAA route. Any insight into this Bill? |

NHL will award Devils with the 30th pick in the Draft instead of the 1st round pick as usually determined. Also forgiving $1.5 mil of fine.
Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
Needless to say, NHL teams are not happy with the leagues decision to let the Devils off the hook. |

So their first pick will be # 30, instead of in the 45 range.... Awesome! |

Theres no reason to dress Downie against the Leafs. Toronto likes to mix it up so move Raffl to 3rd line and let Rosehill get a game in. At this point I trust Rosehills discipline more than Downies. - BiggE
The Flyers are 8 - 2 over the last ten games ... no reason to dress Rosehill, or make any lineup changes, imo. Rosehill should never play, barring injury.
I'd simply drop Downie to the the 4th and reward Raffl with some more minutes on the 3rd line. |

I'm...not happy, but I will say this: They weren't the only ones circumventing the Cap. Yes, they were egregious, with Kovalchuk's contract.
But Marian Hossa's deal is just as bad. So is Roberto Luongo's. If Chris Pronger was an under-35, his would be just as culpable.
Soooo...yeah. They've been punished. I hate the Devils with every ounce of my being, but let's be honest: They weren't the only ones.

It still bothers me that the NHL hands down a punishment, then just undoes it because it's "the right thing to do". Are they going to be so forgiving toward teams that get slammed with the cap recapture penalty? |

Does this mean Snider can whine and female dog to the league to get Pronger's contract terminated so we can end the farce of putting him on LTIR? |

that's okay ... hopefully they're saving him for the playoffs so we can get that 3rd rounder upgraded to a 2nd.

"That third round pick, which is a 2014 pick, will become a second rounder if the Bruins a) make the Eastern Conference Finals with Meszaros playing two-thirds of Boston's games or b) if Boston re-signs Mesz before the 2014 Draft. If neither of those things happen but Meszaros re-signs with Boston after the Draft, the Flyers will keep the third rounder and get an additional 2015 4th round pick." - BSH |

he has to play in 2/3 of the Bruins playoff games AND they have to reach the ECF.
Also, if they re-sign him before the draft it becomes a 2nd. Plus, if they re-sign him after the draft the Flyers get an additional 4th.

The 3rd becomes a 2nd if the Bruins reach the ECF and Mez dresses for 2/3rds+ of the Bruins playoff games, OR if Boston resigns him before the draft.
If they resign him AFTER the draft, they get an additional 4th rounder along with the 3rd (or second, presumably?) |

That's what should happen, and we wouldn't be the only ones who need it -- Marc Savard's never playing again for Boston, and Tampa's had Mattias Ohlund on it for two years now, as well.
It's a ridiculous rule -- these guys aren't capable of playing. Making teams put them on LTIR so they can collect their salaries is ridiculous -- they are never coming back. |
