Janne Niinimaa.
EDIT: It's funny, but when Russ Farwell was GM, they did quite well with 2nd rounders: Chris Simon, Mikeal Renberg, Greg Johnson & Niinimaa all played 500+ NHL games - Jsaquella
Damn...Niinimaa's a LOOOONG time ago now. Wow.
We really need to start doing better with that poop. |

I would just be super wary of guys who bullied/bulled their way through junior... they rarely pan out. - Tomahawk
His junior numbers aren't too different than Simmonds and Hartnell's. I just haven't seen any semblance of skill from him. If I were the Caps, I'd rather have him playing on a top line in Juniors than a 4th line in the NHL. |

Looks pretty good. Probably goes unnoticed a bit on that team. They're very strong down the middle with Samuelson and Lazar. Not many teams have two centers who are first round picks. - PhillySportsGuy

Just a little luck would be nice -- if Stolarz and Hagg both make it, I'd be pretty damn happy, to be honest

Too be fair, here's their second round picks for the last twenty years:
1994: No pick
1995: Shane Kenney
1996: no pick
1997: Jean-Marc Pelletier, Pat Kavanaugh
1998: Jason Beckett, Ian Forbes
1999-2005: no picks
2006: Andreas Nodl, Mike Ratchuk, Denis Bodrov
2007: Kevin Marshall
2008-11: no pick
2012: Anthony Stolarz
2013 Robert Hagg
Over a twenty year span, they've picked in the second round 11 times. Kind of hard to mine a gem when you don;t even go in the cave

Yeah -- I'm watching it, still; he's stoning the Lightning.
Ha! Hodgson just scored on a two-on-one; now it's 3-0 Sabres |

From what I've seen, I'm fairly excited about the player Hagg could become. Could end up being an unbelievable steal, at 41st overall. |

Still not as crazy as what I posted earlier about the Art Ross imo |
|
|
|
Just imagine, if conditions are met in the Mez deal, the Flyers will have not one, but TWO 2nd rounders this year. |

You could add about 4 years to that timeline and it'd be Gretzky, Lemieux, Jagr and Marcel Dionne |

They do have a couple of players chosen in the 2nd round in 2010 in Alt and Straka.

WHOOF -- Dallas just went end-to-end on what started as a 3-on-2 that wound up a 2-on-1, and scored to make it 5-0 over Fonzie's crew.
Quote from the commentator: "It's unfathomable how far this team has fallen." (The Canucks have lost 10 of 11.)
WOW. |
