Was just talking to a friend today about the trade deadline moves. Mentioned what the Flyers did, giving a 2nd/3rd for Macdonald.

The response I got back, was "Ohh yeah, the Avs got Stastny in the second round". Just something to think about in regards to the value of picks. Got me thinking a bit anyway.

The Flyers have found more NHL'ers outside the draft than they have in the 2nd and 3rd rounds in the past ten years. I think they are amongst the leagues most astute these days when it comes to scouting college and euro channels. Guys like Raffle, Matt Read...quality players. The Flyers are one of a few teams that may be able to afford to give up what will likely be late-ish 2nd and 3rd rounders...now, first rounders are another story, and so far (for the post pronger era), we've hung on to those.

The sad thing is - I went to every game in SJ during that stretch of atrociousness. Even took one of my non-hockey friends on the off chance that it would get him into the sport. That game ended in a 0-0 tie. Needless to say it took him years before he warmed up to the game, and now he's an Avalanche fan - the tosser.

So, I move out of country, and the first game the Flyers play in SJ, they win. Go figure.

Jackets got trounced, and the Bruins took care of the Caps.

Just need the Rangers to start losing more now

Watched Detroit vs Colorado play 3 on 3 in OT after a couple of penalties...I hope they don;t have 3 on 3 OT...both teams seemed totally lost.

There's no perfect solution, but almost anything is better than ending a game in a tie, at least in my opinion.
