Makes you wonder if Canuck Ownership prevented Gillis from making the deal in case not all deals were being fairly considered. It's clear the Nucks are circling the drain and it won't be long before anyone of value will be screaming to get off the sinking ship. The Nucks need to max out on any deal they make, not make deals so the GM 'doesn't look bad'.

I think Shaw would probably work better on a 3rd line with Regin and Bickell/Steeger.

I like the idea of propping up Zus with Hossa and Sharp. (worked last year.) and then you have Saad with 19/88.

But the truth is it's Q. Which means it will be that way at some point. And then it will be something else….

I like Shaw on the 3rd line as well but he can be on the top PP units as he's the only guy willing to park himself in front of the net.

Saad - Toews - Kane
Sharp - Handzus - Hossa
Bickell - Shaw - Versteeg
Bollig - Kruger - Smith

How does that happen so much? They have to lead the league in those.

Good question!
It's like a (frank)ing fire drill I tell ya . . .

You would think grown men would know what side they're playing and who is playing on that side ahead of them. You look for that guy to come off and jump on . . . at least that's what we always did.

Unless that blender is going at such supersonic speed that the guys on the bench aren't able to keep up with it!

The top line of Saad Toews Shaw looked ok last night. Shaw is an agitator no doubt, but hes not incompitent (spelling?) when it comes to offensive ability/awareness.

You know what I don't understand, all we hear about is TT and his abilities on offense (great vision, passing, puck control) but we do not hear anything about his defensive play. Isn't this what Q strives for, defensive responsible forwards? Why are they looking to plug TT in at #2C when they weren't going to do it for Pirri. This just doesn't make sense to me at this time.

Added: Do you think Q is on board to have TT in the lineup?

I believe Q also strives for productive lines (obviously) but what i mean is that if TT can come in and light a spark offensively then i think Q will have a lot more leniency (spelling?) IF TT isnt great defensively.

Quenneville will be on board with any player he deems will help the team. Q isn't there to teach, develop or coddle. He is there to win, period end of story! If Q doesn't think said player is ready to help him win Q will not want any part of that player, and rightly so. Q's job security is based on him winning. Developing players is someone elses responsibility.

From all accounts and what 'I have seen, he is pretty good defensively. Where his problems will lie is below the goal line in battles along the boards. As fas as knowing where to be. He does that.

Well he has been working on it. One of the main reasons he stayed in Finland. He has gone better at it but sure still has lot to learn about. But he is more talented offensive player than Pirri is.

Bingo. People don't understand that Pirri's ceiling wasn't that high, TT's is. Hell he just led the WJC in scoring, that's a big deal.

This is it: like Phil Jackson - he doesn't want to develop players - he wants to take players who have mostly proven ready to play in the NHL and develop them into a team.

I will not disagree, TT's ceiling is higher. However citing a WJC scoring championship as evidence is akin to guaranteeing success with an AHL scoring championship (which is over 70 game season vs professional men). The Judge has stated this evidence is not admissible.

Yes, against the best players at his age he was dominant. And he is playing against men and pro hockey players in Finland for third year now and is one of the best players here already.

great game last night from all 4 lines...Shaw had his best game in a while playing on the top line and even though they didnt do much 5v5 it was nice to see Kaner and Sharp back together on the 2nd line..also i am hearing that due to the Canadian dollar falling in value the salary cap may only increase to 68 mil...thoughts on what that would mean for the hawks going forward? Kane, Toews, Saad and Leddy all need new contracts after next season and all will be looking for substantial raises...
