The draft was definitely more fun then. All the rumors of who they would take at #1 or #3. If they would trade it for a huge return? I will say that huge blockbuster with Edmonton was exciting at first. Mironov could have been great. No heart. That Gilmour and Dumont trade for grosek was terrible

great game last night from all 4 lines...Shaw had his best game in a while playing on the top line and even though they didnt do much 5v5 it was nice to see Kaner and Sharp back together on the 2nd line..also i am hearing that due to the Canadian dollar falling in value the salary cap may only increase to 68 mil...thoughts on what that would mean for the hawks going forward? Kane, Toews, Saad and Leddy all need new contracts after next season and all will be looking for substantial raises...

Saad and Leddy are RFA's, which will limit their ability to break the bank. Saad is on the way to being an excellent player, but to get the very big money he'll need to start lighting the lamp. Leddy, as we know, will be traded for Kesseler in July.

For sure. If I remember right, not a lot seemed to happen on the Hawks on that end in those days either or I seem to be remember being disappointed they didn't do more.

The TDL acquisitions I remember that were fairly significant were Murphy, Amonte and Nichlos. At least I think Bernie was acquired at the TDL...or was he an FA signing?

Yeah those were good. Even though the Rangers won the Cup and Matteu scored a huge goal, the was a great trade for us. Too bad we had no depth and amonte barely saw playoff games here

Because? You let DJ encourage you to make you look foolish? Where is the formula or video evidence or even napkin math calculation for a million times better. Moreoever, you believe that more can be gained of what a teen ager can do vs other teens over 5 games vs what men do vs men over 70?

By all means bring over TT and his 40 goals and 100 points NHL might be too easy for him.

In other news, i didnt think i could ever find an un-tasty sloppy joe, but ill be damned if my mother-in-law doesnt keep amazing me with her bland, and often times boaderline disgusting renditions of childhood favorites such as the aformentioned sloppy joe, mac and cheese, even tacos. Its truly amazing, like she's never heard of salt and/or pepper.

agreed...but you have to think Saad will be getting qualifying offers from other teams if the Hawks don't lock him up right away...he is clearly a top line winger and even off an entry level deal he is looking at 3.5-4.5 mil per year on his next deal IMO

I think they'll both want a short deal, and they'll work it out. Saad because he knows the cap is going up and the Hawks will have more money in a few years, and the Hawks for the same reason.
