No one with a shot at the top 2 in 2015 is trading the pick.

Won't be Shinkaruk. One of our only legitimate goal scoring prospects. Management thought he was the closest of our prospects to making the NHL this past season. We all know the Canucks need to score more

Interesting rumor. Seems like the makings of a good trade for both teams.

- 89_hockey

I believe that Horvat will be a solid NHL player. Shinkaruk is smallish but will he be a good scorer at NH level? Anyone in the AHL or elsewhere Canucks are excited to see join their cast next season? I would want to see Kassian become a force. Physically. Solid defensively like Bollig. That should be some of your thoughts. Just reviewing from outside the zone of a Canucks fan. Love to evaluate the down on farm and young NHL players on the NHL teams

If this is all true it would be foolish not to make the deal.

Please, do not overrate Shaw. Nice player, but lots more of them in the league to be found than Keslers. Much easier piece to replace.

Kane + Kesler + ? on a second line behind 19/81/10. WOW. Going to give any opponent fits since the Hawks have about twenty players to cycle through the bottom six to build two solid lower lines. Opponents' forecheck will become backcheck.

- Return of the Roar

It amazes me how some people over value fringe/role players. Albeit, I think some of that comes from the "new" hockey fan and not knowing the difference between Shaw/Leddy and the value/experience/elite level play that someone like Kesler would bring.

OMG! You can't trade Shaw!!!!

23rd in penalty killing. Where were they last year? Does that matter? Umm, yeah.

If Patrick Kane prefers to play with a proven commodity over a kid who might end up . . . a right wing . . . and his re-signing could be impacted by it . . . then yeah, that could make a difference.

But some people just want to take shots.

- John Jaeckel

I didn't take any shots.

All I said was that the post season is going to have a big say on the off-season. That's all I said.

That and Stan really values TT.

How you took this as a shot is anyone's guess.

Idk. I'd bet not, but say this summer the Hawks crap out, Kane makes it clear he's not resigning and we go to Buffalo saying he want your first next year, I think they say no. Important hockey people are really convinced that McDavid is going to be great
- rollpards19

So is Eichels.

How do you know how much Stan Bowman values TT? Other then the organization thinks he'd be a nice piece here in Chicago should he actually make it to the big league club.

You're missing the point - no one has any clue if TT will amount to anything more than a 2nd or 3rd line winger. We already know what Kesler is.
- CaptainBlackhawk

No, i really do get the point. Its a gamble. I just dont think we need to act that desperate with this years team. Now if we get swept in round 1 of the playoffs.....THEN ill probly be down for trading our top prospect and whatever else for another big piece like Kesler. But right now im still a believer in what we have, and if that gets us another Cup then ill be glad we kept TT.

If Kane doesn't want to resign. Ship his ass to the worst team in the league at the deadline next season.
- Elbows15

That'd be sweet. I wish that would have happened to St. Louis.

Desperate is when the $800K in cap you have forces you to the waiver wire/trash bin to find what you know you need but cant get.

That's just part of it JJ...in my opinion. Comparing last years club with this years is interesting. Virtually the same roster, but different results...a different team really.

No no no... it's a gamble to have TT come up and have an organization honestly believe that a 19 year old kid can contribute on an NHL level on a Stanley Cup winning team. That's the gamble.

Getting rid of a depth forward is no big deal at all. Im be more concerned with having to rebuild half the defense if ur talking about moving Leddy and/or Oduya and already knowing that Rozsival is about done....

Makes sens Mike. Business, not personal. There are 2 studs in 2015 as of right now. McDavid and Eichels. You want a shot at either one if you are going to lose Kane.

You have some depth defensive players coming up in the system in the next year or two. Couple that with the fact that depth defensive players are more easily found via free agency/trade than elite centers helps make the decision that much easier.

TT was the key to getting Kesler yesterday Capt. Look through the clutter. IF he was a part of the deal, Kesler is a Hawk today.

I think only one of 27 or 8 is leaving. Been the plan all along I suspect. It was 8's year to equal/eclipse 27. 27 gets re-upped, Rozy stays as mentor in his final year and the new Swede becomes the new #5.

Leddy needs to be on a team that needs a top tier puck mover. No room on the org chart for him here.

Or Stan Bowman really was honest in saying he never aggressively pursued Kesler and wanted THIS team to make a play for another Cup without giving up any pieces currently on the big league roster. Which, I think, is 100% the case.

Regardless of if they win a Cup or not, the offseason is a completely different beast.

U act like the defending champs having one of the top 5 NHL drafted prospects in the world is a bad thing....the point is to hope that these players will end up being the next piece of the puzzle, not to worry that they will bring us down. The way Hawks fans constantly bicker about the 2C, it seems that having Handzus or Regin out there would be the gamble....and that bringing in TT would be something to look forward to. Again id love Kesler, but the price of ripping apart our defense and taking our top prospect is too steep right now, especially considering we're still a major Cup contender as it is.

Are you honestly defining "ripping apart our defense" as trading Leddy?

Again - playoffs last year - he was stapled to the bench. When he wasn't, he was thrown around like a Raggedy Ann doll. He's a puck mover. Period.
