If he didnt lose a % of the team then it doesnt really matter. He's sitting on a $700 million dollar asset that he bought for $200 million.

That right there is why Gillis won't get fired.

I'm starting to wonder how much of what I hate about Gillis has been Aquilini all along... When it comes to this dysfunctional mishmash of a coaching staff I believe Torts & Sullivan were Aquilini's idea (and Torts was basically neutered upon his hiring - I recall them talking about him being a different guy if he gets this job)... I think Gulutzan (who I believe would be fine as the HC with his own assistants) was a Gillis' candidate.

Bottom line... Meddling owners will be a problem no matter which names we list.

This may be the exact reason why many are speculating that Gillis will walk at the end of the season. I would imagine that it would be incredibly frustrating to operate under those conditions.

Agree see Jerry Jones or Jimmy Haslam. Until the question of how involved Aquilini is in personnel decisions is addressed I think it may keep people away from the job or we just get a mouthpiece.

For Gillis it comes down to how many Aquilini decides to eat @ the front end of their human centipede.

That is such a head scratcher.

Sundin was Aqua-weenie.
Luo's contact was Aqua-weenie.

Wonder who made Torts the coach.

I think Sundin was a glimpse into Gillis' ability to think outside the box with the resources available to him (rare example of his promised "bold moves")... Aquilini backed the idea financially as all owners should if they trust the vision of the guy they hired.

Lu's contract... I'm not sure... Maybe a joint decision?

Torts I think was all Aquilini... Gillis was preaching a vision that was the polar opposite of Tortorella's style prior to the hire... Then stressed that Torts wouldn't be the Torts we saw in NY (which I thought was an odd way to welcome an established guy/personality/philosophy to the franchise) when they chose him over Gulutzan (who I believe was Gillis' 1st choice).

Bieksa said this is rock bottom. I (frank)ing hope not, we've got a big draft coming up in 2015.

I bet 99% of the guys here would be happy missing the playoffs for 2-3 years.
