His success in the AHL is ONE MONTH of decent play. In February he was playing some amazing hockey. Before and after that, not at all. I would love for him to turn into a #1 goaltender.. I just don't see it happening.

.920 spct in the AHL is more than a month of decent play. And I'm referring to his .919 over 29 gp this season and a .920 last season a Rampage team that stinks (gives up more than 30 shots a game). He has looked brilliant at the NHL level, and stinky at the NHL level. He is what he is, a 24 year old goalie prospect who could be a starter, or could be the next Hannu Toivonen. I believe he's going to make it. It's understandable you guys don't having waited for him for 4 years. But let's be realistic, your gm never really gave him a fair chance. Last year there's no way Clemmenson or THeodore deserved to be starting ahead of him.

We don't know how Gillis approached negotiations it what he said to other GMs, but just because he didn't make deals is not evidence that he screwed up. Who cares if Boston wanted Edler and believed they offered quality for it. If the deal wasn't deemed good by Gillis, he didn't need to make the deal. Same with the Pittsburgh offer, most of what has leaked out doesn't appear to have been worth a trade for Kesler. Would you walk onto a car dealership looking for a Lexus and be OK with the salesman offering you a Camry and expecting you to pay the same amount (I'm not saying Kesler is a Lexus).

And Garth Snow can shut up. It's not Gillis's job to make it smooth for all other GMs to make their trades.

All this to say, I'm not a Gillis fan.

speaking on behalf of Islanders fans, we don't blame the situation with kesler for Snow's failure to recoup fair value for Vanek. We blame our ownership for meddling and Snow for allowing it to happen.

Whatever Snow says is a smoke screen to lessen the failure of the Vanek trade.
