For years the Leafs played awful hockey for most of the season and then played like they really cared for the last 15 or 20 games. That turned out to be a bad thing. - Jeffmt
If they drafted better that wouldn't be the case, players with character will never quit, or at least they shouldn't, on each other. Management however can ice a sub-par team if that's their feelings. But the players, from my experience, will never stop trying (unless they're Russian)...for the most part. |

I agree. I would rather see the Oilers play their best hockey in years (they're getting a lotto pick regardless) then better their chances for the top pick. - Jeropotato
If the Oilers played like the Flames do, hard work ethic, they'd be in a better position than they are. |

I dunno, Ekblad could be a big piece of the puzzle for you guys. EDM potentially has goaltending sorted out if Fasth gets back to form. Next step is to improve the defensive core. |

Agreed. The most glaring need is to make the Sedins second liners. This can be accomplished by trading both Kesler and Edler. And from what I saw on after hours last night, make Bieksa the Captain. - Chest Rockwell
I like that idea of making Bieksa captain but then you need to trade the Sedins . Droping them to second liners and taking away the C is Luoungo 2.0 |

That Dal Colle kid looks impressive, but he'll be gone before we pick I'd imagine. |

Bieksa 3 has Stepan on the bench with 6 players playing today. |

Never seen him play so can't comment
Would Sedins waive to be traded to NYR? That could be a pretty good line up
Nash Richards StLouis
Sedin Sedin ?
Kreider Stephan and 1st and 2nd |

Sure, NYR should have no problem taking on $14M in cap hit
Trading the Sedins would be one of the toughest trades in the league to make. No one is looking for two thirds of a top line, or two $7M second liners. I said at the time that I thought Gillis got them re-signed at a reasonable rate so I'm not going to pretend that I knew this all along, but it looks like these might be just two more bad Gillis contracts. |

I agree with the bad contracts. NYR would have 8 mil in cap space with 8 players to sign . They would have their core top 6 their core D signed and their two goalies. Doable. |

That's roughly $36M on their top two lines. Assuming Kreider and Stepan are involved in the trade like you suggested, that would have them at about $64M with at least 5 forwards and 2 defensemen to sign and that's just to ice a full four lines up front and three on the back end, forget extra players. If I'm missing something here please correct me but that doesn't look doable at all. |

One bad year filled with injuries does not make them bad players. 60 to 80 points is very do-able if they get rid of Torts. They're still our best offensive players. |

Take away his first round pick.
The guy I'm playing this week didn't set his lineup once. Kb3point0.
Edit: this isn't true, he did every night, his team just sucks. |

I'm not saying they're bad players but at this point if you trade for them I think you're getting a diminishing return. They're on the decline, that's a fact, but they'll be paid as first line players for another four years. If you could split them up and only take one it might not be such a bad idea but taking both of those guys at this stage in their careers with that hit is just bad business. |

Why would the rangers trade two players on the rise for two guys on the down swing ? |

Unrealistic scenario - they'll never be traded. |

As I said before I think it was a bad idea to give those contracts. I said it at the beginning of the year and stand by it even more now.I think it stagnates our growth (waiting for lefty to get mad )
I would have went in a total other way. Sedins said they would sign one year at a time , Gillis is a (frank)tard IMO for signing them long term. |

Why do you hang out on a Canuck forum so much? You obviously hate the fans so much. You talk about the posters more than the Canucks. Little man syndrom...
Also, you want to clear up your comment out about you female dog pregnant wife??? Maybe you should edit before she see's that.
Hell, you even give the people you love a hard time at home.... no rest for the wicked. - boonerbuck
Nah just you.....
And you've never met the wife, she'd make the Canucks 4th line obsolete......
I do hate most Canuck fans, some of the biggest bandwagon jumpers in any sports league, try and deny that!
There are a few good ones that keep me coming back and a few asshats that make it fun to torment... |
