You know the Sedins' history and how they were playing prior to that signing. Are you really going to make that comparison? - AlexF
History is the past what will they do next year. |

Josh Rimer @JoshRimerHockey 25m
And from what I'm hearing there will b a fire sale in Vancouver at the draft. Kesler, Edler, Bieksa must go. What does that mean for Sedins? - Yeti1181
Bieksa's going nowhere...nor should he. |

They were underpaid for years...I think this deal is basically a nice little retirement package for the pair of them. - djamon
Don't care. |

Honest question who would you rather at this time and going forward , Brayden Schenn or Daniel SEdin. - VANTEL
The way things are heading I'd say Schenn because I think it ll be a few years for the rebuild (doesn't seem to be retool route they are going). So with that I'm automatically going to go younger. I hate to say but those extension might be a big burden going forward now that things have changed so drastically. |

My point is those deals (7.5 for 7 yrs) are never handed out to guys with potential but rather guys that have shown their worth time and again. |

Good thing we have Josh Rimer to tell us these things. Who was his source, HB? - AlexF
No idea just seen the tweet and it was relative to the convo. |

But generally for guys that are on the upswing as well they should have got those last time, it like they did the contracts in reverse. |

They will be huge burdens . As you can see they are not who they use to be. This is not a one year drop off it has been a decline year after year.
I don't keep sentiment is negotiating. I think if you polled 100 people it would be 75 % in favour of Dvhenn over Sedin right now. |

I think if Tortorella is replaced by a superior coach that understands how to work with the talent at his disposal, the Sedins will pick the pace a bit. The Art Ross are well gone but they shouldn't be wallowing in this sort of form.
That said, we need to get the Sedins on the 2nd line facing 2nd line opposition ASAP. It worked wonders for Thornton-Marleau and is realistically the only option worth pursuing as the Sedins' contract is more than likely untradeable. |

Rewarding previous deeds with future looking contracts is never good asset management. That said, MG deemed the twins untouchable and they easily would've matched that as UFAs. |

Makes a lot of sense what your saying. Who would be the new top line guys? Because if you don't have better players for the top line other teams will still put out 1st pairing d against him. |

I ate my Wheaties this morning. Good to see you back on the boards as well my friend. Been busy? |

Yep - Bieksa#3
If you offered Schenn 5 mil Holmer would match in a heartbeat. You have to decide do you want the player and what is the number that he couldn't accept.
Like I said earlier, if I was GM I would offer sheet Schenn 7.5 and buy out Daniel. very bold move but would set the team right in so many ways. |

That would suggest that the Sedin down spin started this year. You may want to check the numbers. |

Your right it's not but it does happen very often.
UFA status is a tough one because who would have had 15 million to sign to the Sedins and would any of those teams would the Sedins replace there top line. It's tricky because they come as a pair and I think that would hurt the overall value of the two. |

Who would you have replace him? I don't think it's Torts per se; a coaching change is usually going to take some time to translate into on-ice success... |

The million dollar question. It's far easier said than done but the hope was that if Kesler and Edler were traded we could get some guys in like Granlund or Schenn or someone of top line potential in the near future. No doubt a key UFA signing would need to come in but with the added cap space it's a possibility.
Unfortunately we don't have that Logan Couture waiting in the wings but if Horvat can hit the ground running at the NHL level that would help expedite the transition. |

Can't buyout just one cause it would negatively affect Hank. This is my thinking at least. |
