To me, there are quite a few goalies who are capable of putting up solid numbers playing back up (shelled minutes) in one season. There is a reason only a small number of goalies in this league can put up solid numbers playing 60+ games as a starter. It is a completely different mindset being the number 1 guy and the pressure is immense. Is Lack capable of being a starter and playing 60-70 games and posting good numbers? We have no idea, and this concerns me. - kneughter
I agree. That's why I was always a Lu supporter. Was he perfect? no. But you knew you were going to get good to great goaltending most games with the occasional stinker mixed in. |

We're (frank)ed if FA will only hire a "yes man" type. - Nucker101
I wonder if it is just FA not trusting Gillis? Maybe a new gm would get a longer leash? hopefully? if not... |

Friedman has sources around the league and said there was potential for someone to be fired if they lost to Calgary. They barely won that game and were embarrassed tonight so I think either Gillis or Torts/Sully are on the hot seat right now. - Nucker101
I don't think you need sources to realize a team that was a SC finalist and double President's trophy winner just a few seasons ago, not to mention on pace for 106 points at New Year's, would have a few people on the hot seat right about now.
I've never seen anything from Friedman that made me believe he had well placed sources within the Canucks org. |

Absolutely. Hopefully it isn't the case, but I'd assume that any candidate for the job want want assurance that they would have autonomy over personnel decisions. I'm sure if that isn't the case we could potentially see that in how long the search takes or how many people turn down the job. |

Would you re-new right now?
Holy sh*t, this might turn out to be worse than the Keenan years. - Marwood
It's sure following the same pattern. Go to the Stanley cup final and then a couple years later go straight into the sh!tter. |

That being said, goaltending (Lu or Lack) is very low on the list of problems this team currently has. 18 goals in the previous 13 games is very concerning! |

Who starts Sunday? - Atomic Wedgie
Maybe Burrows should suit up. He is doing nothing on the ice, and he said previously he played goal sometimes in practice from his ball hockey days.
Make him earn that 6 million he is being paid. Cause right now they are paying him roughly about a million dollars for every point he gets.

I like your theories. I think that might be the case, gillis just lost the trust. |

Friedman knew MG's list of targets for Hodgson. He also was one if the people who said JT was a strong candidate to be new HC last summer. |

Pffft. Isles can score more than half that in a period. >duck< |

Chicago won 2 SCs on the backs of inexperienced goalies (Niemi and Crawford). It's absolutely possible if the team in front of them is worth even half a pretzel. |

Meh, some of the best times at hockey games are when the team is going through a rough patch. You get to watch the youth develop and it's pretty much all hockey fans at the game, not barbie's social club. |

The Hodgson note impresses me since absolutely no one seemed to mention he was even being shopped before he was traded.
Saying JT was in the running for HC doesn't impress me. Let's be honest there were only a hand full of names out there last summer and JT and Ruff were the most high profile. |

Did Gillis mention AV in last year's season ticket holder emails? Just curious. - Nucker101
No but he did every other year. He did mention #27 though so it's all good. |

They'd have to lower the ticket prices a bit before that could be the case. |
