I was pretty vocal in my concern based on the style of his teams' play. It's outdated and one-dimensional. A few people thought I was being too harsh. I'm not putting all this crap on his doorstep, but he has certainly played his part in this Shakespearean tragedy. - AlexF
Well said, a Shakespearean tragedy is spot on - ladies and gentleman, introducing Mike "Macbeth" Gillis at your services |

He had high scoring teams in TB as well, but overall I agree with you and thought it was a strange fit. I still fully believe that FA pushed for him more so than Gillis. Gillis is all about puck possession(though the Cam Barker signing confused me until this very day ). - Nucker101
A meddling owner = neutered team (nice visual, I know) |

Mostly, yes. Founded in India I believe, but a lot of Asian countries have a large Buddhist population. - Nucker101

Fu(k You Gillis.
You're gonna ruin Lack, he should not be a starter.
I could go on, but you all know the problems. - moondawg
So why didn't MG pick up a cheap veteran back up goalie at the TDL, especially of torts doesn't feel 35 is ready. |

I know, but people these days basically associate "Asians" with China, Japan, Vietnam, etc. |

Playing in the Southeast; think about the calibre of the Northwest division when we had our high scoring team. Different coaches, I know. But it's pretty easy to have a high scoring team when you play in a cupcake division. |

Wrong. there's a lot of Buddhists in India and in Sri Lanka. Also, people from India are considered Asian in more places than just the UK... it might be people in Canada who don't clue in |

I really hope that ownership does the right thing and stays the course with Gillis. The team, fans and city deserve it. A s@#t match made in heaven.
2 no.1 goalies for Horvat, Markstrom and Mattias = a brilliant GM. Add to that the signing of side show Bob as the HC. The team is in great hands. |

Be that as it may, you don't adopt the polar opposite system. This isn't Nashville's forward core. Based on the games I've watched of his in NY I'm more inclined to think he only knows how to coach one system. - AlexF
he squeezed every drop of blood he could from rocks in Tampa and NY. he's a really good coach in general. but what's happened in Vancouver is the perfect storm. bad fit for the personnel, the decline of the Sedins and Burrows, injuries and now possibly the worst goaltending situation in the NHL. Vancouver needs to clean house, Gillis and Torts. but mostly Gillis. |

Add to that this great GM sends a letter out to fans - before the season is over outlining his brilliant rebuild plan. Which includes and I quote -
"We’ve added a big, strong 6’4″ centre in Shawn Matthias, who is excited to be here and will help this team now". Who also has never scored more than 24pts in a season. Wow.
The sad/funny thing is the crazy Nuck fans are buying it all - hook, line and sinker. |

Firing Gillis doesn't take care of anything if ownership is creating the problems to begin with. If ownership authorized the exact same deal to be made last year at the deadline (as many reports indicate), Vancouver would still have Schneider.
FA needs to check his ego at the door, stop throwing other people under the bus and take ownership for his own mistakes including the original Lou contract and captaincy.
While I wasn't sold on Torts from the get go and I'm still not a huge Gillis fan (especially with his trade history), I'm not entirely sure a new GM and coach will change much. I doubt ownership makes a coaching or GM change as both are relatively new contracts and they'd be adverse to payouts.

Not enough for Lack, Rielly must be included in the deal or Gillis hangs up. |
