you know what's funny, I remember during the finals in 1994, Canuck fans holding up signs that said 1940 mocking the Rangers.

Seriously, the Canucks haven't won a cup yet and the Leafs haven't won a cup since before the Canucks were even in the league. The only team that has bragging rights right now is Chicago.

As a fan of both teams I think I can have more of an unbiased opinion than most. Certain "fans" of both teams can be db's. It goes without saying that when a team is experiencing consistent regular team success, fans tend to beat their chest a little more than if they don't. This isn't rocket science and Leaf fans do it just as much as Canuck's fans do.

I'd disagree that when times were consistently good for the Leafs that fan's didn't brag. I'm sure Hab and Sens fans can attest to that - specifically Sens fans considering the post season battles. That is a part of why they hate Leaf fans so much. As well, the years when the Leafs consistently made the playoffs took place when social media, public boards weren't in existence like their current state.

Wow, so you're saying that fans tend to overvalue the trade value of their team's players? I'm shocked.

That being said, most fans didn't think the return for Lou was going to be that good. And things changed with the cap penalty which was introduced with the new CBA.
