It doesn't matter who the GM is, this team is going nowhere until the current owner makes a decision, is this an serious investment or a hobby? - A_SteamingLombardi
The more pertinent question may be not whether he takes it seriously but whether he seems himself as a good at making hockey decisions. Reports are indicating that the owner had more to do with hiring torts than the GM. If he wants to run the team then we are in for some trouble. |

If the Islanders and Canucks made a trade, I think both teams would somehow horribly lose the deal. - bullethead7

If this is one of Aquilinis hobbies there is going to be a ton of face palm's for the next few years until he gets bored and finds a new hobby. |

I see this position as utterly ridiculous. There is an argument to be made for Gillis inheriting good players but to say he's done nothing is too much. I'm not sure how much you credit you give Burke & Nonuts but there is some credit due.
As for a good GM candidate who knows. I liked the Lafontaine coming in and being president of hockey ops before that ended poorly. Like a Charelli and Neely kind of idea. Not sure of the names but that idea seems the best course of action if Gillis does get canned. - 89_hockey
I give Burke a lot of credit. He took a broken franchise and built something both on the ice and in the stands. Much of the 2011 core came from players he drafted. Although Nonis wasted picks at deadlines, he also brought in valuable players. Gillis brought a few bits with Erhoff and Malhotra being the best. |

If the teams value drops a couple hundred million he might give up control. |

The funny thing is that every new rock bottom still has the power to surprise. What will tomorrow bring? |

Rock bottom looks like the Edmonton Oilers of recent history. Or the Florida Panthers of the last decade. So yeah, we still have a ways to drop till we get there. We won't get to that level unless a full firesale for draft picks takes place. |

What is even worse....the Canucks staff in their interview asked Nedved who the best player in the draft was. His answer was "Jaromir Jagr". Somehow Jagr went 5th.... - Iggysbff
Absolutely nothing wrong with the Nedved pick, managements fault they couldn't sign him after a 38 goal season. Another example of the piss poor leadership we've had over the years. |

Yeah hindsight you can criticize it but it wasn't a "bad" pick. Just wasn't the best. |

That'll help their Defense but their offense was the issue in the Super Bowl |

Seahawks are going after Jared Allen and Jason Hatcher, if they get one or even both, you might as well hand them the trophy again, a big-time pass rush on TOP of the LOB? That's better than the Steel Curtain or the '85 Bears. |

Yeah, that would just be unfair for opposing offenses. |

I liked our team with Torres on it. Love him or hate him, he brings an intimidating element with his game. |
