Doubt it. Our whole team is pretty poopty. Individual players are pretty good. Team is poopty. But it is nice to see some quality tending. - ystoil
No doubt you still need some help on defence but quality goaltending is making em look a helluva lot better than Dubnyk did. |

uhh nope. Maybe if Scrivens was at .940 throughout a whole season. EDM is terrible. Frequently horridly outshot. No top pairing and 2.5 NHLers in the bottom 6 - TheNugeIsHuge
At least in his time with us, Hendricks has been solid.
Between Smyth, Gordon and Hendricks/Hemsky/Arcobello/Jones (for like 10 games) we've had at least 3 NHLers in the bottom 6 on any given night. |

EDM should have 6-7!
I don't know if I really consider Jonesy an NHL calibre player anymore. He's gone unwanted through waivers and been fairly lousy. Maybe he's better if he's playing with Arco or people not named Gazdic. Who knows |

Hallsy seemed like a pretty bummed out guy in that interview. From his stats plummeting(yes, Hall checks possession stats (frank)ers) to not garnering much attention for team canada. Went from winning 2 straight memorial cups and 2 straight memorial cup MVPs, to a bottom dwelling team for 4 seasons and absence on most team canada projections.
We talk about trading Eberle for help. You gotta think if Hall's best friend in eberle gets dealt, there's not a lot that would make him want to stay in EDM much longer |

Somebody has to step and lead this team. Tonight was a poor example and a nice sign, but more often that not, this team quits this game in the 2nd period.
Is that okay? It has everything to do with the guys that have the talent on this team.
I'm not questioning Halls talent, I'm questioning if he has the mental toughness and leadership to carry this team out of it. |

Unfortunately he doesn't. The makeup of this team just isn't right. These kids have nobody to look up to but yet they're suppose to lead a franchise. |

I agree. Hall has to be kept happy.
I wish I understood corsi a bit more to know different ways to achieve better corsi. In a way sustained pressure = better corsi but where does the problem stem from?
It could be pinned to four different things in my eyes.
Zone entries
zone exits
D coverage
Sustained O pressure.
I want to know which of these four things are the problem. I think it's fair to assume that our Brutal defense is having an affect, but that can't be the reason he's seen a near 10 point drop either. |

I think zone entries have been a big thing for Hall this year. Eakins has promoted dump n chase which doesn't exactly play to his strengths/has been found to be a deterrent to offensive pressure. |

So what does a stats guy like yourself say Taylor has to do to improve his Corsi?

One guy can't carry the team out of the dumpster. Takes the whole org from the defence to the offence to the head coach. Hall shouldn't be counted on to carry the burden of a mismanaged franchise
I think Hall's mental toughness may be worn from being a loser for his entire NHL career |

I wouldn't say that he doesn't. He has been a good leader in junior. I thin he puts all the pressure on himself though and that can be a hinderence as much as it can be a strength. To say we don't have the leadership is tricky, but this group has fallen flat for four years and whether you admit it or not it takes a toll. A winning season would reveal the true character of this team. The oilers have been out of this since October, so it's easy to judge them at their lowest level because that's all we know of them. |

I wouldn't call myself a stats guy. Just a follower of stats/statisticians.
I'm not entirely sure. I think mc79 has some things up on his site. May revolve around less carried-in zone entries. |

That's such crap! Keeping Tay-Tay happy is a priority over improving the team? If we get a stud D man and Win more games, and Hall is unhappy, then we 100% made a mistake drafting him over Seguin.

There has to be changes and I don't think Yak Gagner are 1st would get us what we need unless Ebs name is in the mix. How happy is Hall going to be if were out of the playoffs at Christmas next year?
We wouldn't have made the playoffs this year with Fasth and Scrivens but we would be in the race and tried to improve the team at the deadline which would also help at the start of next year then always being sellers. That has to change. |

Rhetorical question
EDM's been dogsh*t and goaltending has bailed them out hardcore. EDM'd have an embarrassing record since with a more reasonable SV% (.915-.920) |

Zone entries - they can't dump and chase, zero puck retrieval. Too small, not enough fight in their game.
zone exits - it's a team effort to exit the zone, enough said.
D coverage - it's a team effort to play in the dzone.
Sustained O pressure - run and gun style, what's sustained O pressure? Forwards are too small to grind it out down low.

That's the thing I don't really like. People who swear by Corsi seem to label guys as good/bad possession players like they were born that way, yet offer no explanation as to why the stats are where they are and how they can improve upon them. Have players Corsi results ever fluctuated greatly? Do they change with their line mates? coaches? Teams? Explain to us ingnorants. |

Dough Weight Best Friend Bill Guerin got traded by the Oil and Dough Weight continue his super play for the Oil and welcome the new player which it was Anson Carter,I think Hall will be okay if Eberle goes. |
