EDM should have 6-7!
I don't know if I really consider Jonesy an NHL calibre player anymore. He's gone unwanted through waivers and been fairly lousy. Maybe he's better if he's playing with Arco or people not named Gazdic. Who knows - TheNugeIsHuge
yeah I agree Jones had a few decent games but he likely isn't cutting it anymore; . |

So, anyone want to discuss how the KlefBomb did last night. He registered an assist. I didn't see the game so I'd love to know people's insight on his first NHL game (looking at you Maximumbone and Morris). |

It was basically what you expected in his first game. Over handled the puck once which led to a chance. Couple other nervous plays in the first. Took the body nicely a few times and made some nice plays leading to. Quick breakout.
Marincin is showing is offensive upside as he gets more comfortable. |

So he played better than Fraser? I guess it's a matter of letting him settle in after a few games. I'm hoping that he actually looked promising. |

Right before he mishandled that first period chance he had made a great play to turn away from the forechecker. I can see that he can do a lot of things well.
He also looks pretty strong on the boards, which jives with what Nelson was saying about him in OKC.
Not an amazing start, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him be a permanent fixture on our D essentially from now on. |

Ya I forgot about that spin move he pulled on that forechecker
I want to see him for the last 16 and they can re evaluate what to do at the beginning of next year |

No problem. I'm excited to see how he will look in a few games.

I'm not sure what to think for the draft anymore. I think drafting Ekblad and developing him will be the smartest decision for us. Wingers are easier to come by, unlike a potential "franchise dman", whether he is like Chris Phillips or Chris Pronger. Sam Bennett would be a fun pick, just since he is compared to Doug Gilmour!
But I'm also all fair for trading the pick if the return is substantial and addresses our needs. Wow, this is too much thinking for the morning
What are you thinking? Are you pushing for us to pick Draisaitl? |

I will say as well I prefer moving the pick for a centre or dman as long as the value is right. We do not need to lose a trade on a lottery pick.
I would be fine with ekblad as he plays the right side and adds size to the back end but I am pushing for draisaitl. We need a centre bad IMO. Adds much needed size and skill down the middle. Have him another year in junior and maybe a bit in the ahl, no need to rush him.
Edit: I'd argue it's just as hard to trade for a centre with size than a dman. And we have plenty of d coming. |

I would really love to catch Calgary and maybe NYI as well. You can't count on Calgary to lose when they should though, and Florida just got Luongo so that may help them. I think 4th-5th in the draft is the perfect position to consider trading down.
I know nothing of these prospects, so it should be interesting to see what happens with that pick. |

If we somehow beat STL and DET, and got a bit of luck, we could be in 27th place with a game in hand by Sunday!

Mackenzie had draisaitl at 5 and button at 4 and a potential #1 candidate. I would agree on that draft position. If these guys finish the year strong it will be beneficial for their confidence and psyche |

I haven't looked much into this year's draft eligible players either. I figure, wherever we pick, hopefully a solid player is there for us, if not, trade the pick and let's get someone that can help us immediately. |

If Seth Jones can drop to 4, then Ekblad could do the same. How torn would you be if we drafted at 4 and both Ekblad and Draisaitl were both available? |

I'm hoping Winnipeg gets antsy to come to a conclusion with their Ladd/Buff/Kane and has a slight lapse in judgement
If 5th overall + Gagner + Gernat gets you 11th overall + Byfuglien, I'd do that in a heartbeat. |

On the point I think. The extent to which he doesn't' work as a Dman (esp on our team) has been overblown. |

I would love that. I'd put Buff on the point as well. We may "suffer" an opening at 2C, but I think we could make do with call-ups or land a UFA. Maybe we even luck out with the 11th overall pick for a C. |

Byfuglien sucks, only thing he is good at is parking himself in front of the net and getting some PP goals.
And you can get him for a lot cheaper than that. Jets were asking just a pick and player for him at the deadline |

Plus he brings a boatload of experience and size to our backend which will help out the younger guys. I think he would be a huge addition for Klefbom and then eventually Nurse.
would we be ok if D1 was Buff-Jultz? |
