Just out of curiosity, is there any appetite for Aaron Eckblad from the Flyers if they had an opportunity to get that pick from Edmonton? - Jeropotato

So he's not the player he was in his prime, but he's still a "top player"?
I'm confused. - Tomahawk
Scoring at a 67 point pace is a top player in my book. Was Pronger the same player he was as a Flyer as when he won the Hart/Norris Trophy? Pronger was not the player here that he was in his prime.
And I'm aware that Pronger didn't struggle here like Lecavalier has done this Season.
But really the comment was just a semantics argument, rather then addressing the substance. |

In Pronger's only full season for the Flyers he had 55 points and was +22 while matching up against the other team's best. Yes, he was still a top player.
Vinny was a supporting cast member on Tampa for a few years. |

You can lay out all the stats you want. I can see with my eyes that he's not one of the top 9 forwards on this team. This is the problem with one-way scoring centers. Once they lose their ability to produce, they don't have many options. They can't play bottom 6, but they can't produce enough in the top 6. . - PhillySportsGuy
Everyone can see right now, with his current level of play that he's not one of the top 9. I don't believe for a second that Lecavalier has lost his ability to produce. I think he's been affected by an injury and position switch that is not suited to him. Put him back at Center and we'll see if he has lost the ability.

I think Vinny can be top 9 on another team. A team that needs a scoring center. I just don't see him having a role on this team moving forward. |

You would think that with 4 straight years of injury plagued seasons that it "might " be a consideration......just like Lindros might of been at risk for another concussion....I don't care what the injuries were....Vinny has a lot of mileage on him and he appears to be breaking down. - landros 2
The worst injuries he had before coming here were broken hands, and fractured ankle. Not much to be worried about. |

Not true. Lecavalier was both a top PP and ES Forward for TB last year in ice time. |

If he can't adapt to the LW and they insist on keeping him there, that might be the case. |

Okay I'll rephrase the question. What would the pick be worth to the Flyers if they had the opportunity to draft Eckblad? |

I was talking about that earlier how we are perfect trade partners. We have defensive center and big strong wingers.
I think I said something like Schenn brothers, plus Nick cousins, plus Hagg plus our pick for Edmonton 1 and yakupov. |

We'll give you Jay Rosehill, our first round pick, and the ghost of Chris Pronger. Final offer. |

Needs? Defensive forward or defenseman I'm assuming. I would do Coburn+Flyers 1st+Read. |

Thats not enough for Edmonton and I really don't want Yakupov. Wouldn't have any interest in giving up serous assets for him. |

That's not a bad deal. Obviously we would prefer Couts and Coburn. What if we upped Yak to Eberle? |

Hall
Edit: Couturier won't be traded unless its for a top pairing dman or a guy with top pairing potential. He's going to be a stud. He's already one of the best defensive centers in hockey and is on pace for 40 points. He matches up against top lines every night. |

It's not a knock.....guys that play that long are bound to be banged up.....guys slow down, lose a step and take hits they probably didn't early on....as a GM you should always approach mid 30 players with caution.....there is a reason why there are more mid 20 year old players playing then guys in there mid 30 s. You can't teach Vinny type skill.....but be it age or injury, he is a problem......if this was the 3rd or 4th year of the deal, then I would share some optimism ......but besides some decent showings early on, Vinny is playing as a liability.

Very good two-way player. a Bankable 20+ goals and 40+ points. Has good speed and will give a great effort every night. Great PKer. He's a swiss army knife. He can play anywhere in the lineup. Can even step in at center if they need him to. |

Pronger was arguably better in his 30s than he was in his 20s -- as indicated by his near constant trips to the SCF. Only thing that declined was his foot speed, but he had so many other tools that he was able to compensate.
Vinny had no less that four teammates equal or ahead of him in points per 60 mins at ES last season... including such luminaries as Tyler Johnson and Benoit Pouiliot.
Accumulated injuries are/were going to do both of them in, but Pronger at 80% still had a lot to offer, versus Vinny who has a very narrow range of effectiveness. |
