How many of these remaining March games do you expect the team to win? My guess is three.
Pit twice - split
Chi - lose
Dal - win
StL - lose
LA - OTL
NYR - OTL
Tor - win
Bos - lose - Feanor

I don't think that helps the team. Couts plays 20+ minutes on a lot of nights. He's already one of the best defensive forwards in hockey. He and Read are a great tandem together.
I don't think Vinny is immovable. Yes, they may need to pay part of his salary, but I believe he'd waive his NTC in order to go to a team where he can play center.
At this point, I would much rather have a 4th line guy like Malhotra signed for 5 years than Vinny. - PhillySportsGuy
One thing is very true, by next season they have to have this sorted out, because they have Laughton coming up as well. Whether that means moving Vinny or trading SchennBros or Couturier something has to happen to resolve this issue.
But I am just talking about "for now".
Do you think L.Schenn, B.Schenn, Cousins, Hagg, and our 1st gets Edmonton 1st and Yakupov? That might not be a bad deal. Draft Ekblad. Could you imagine a future D-pairing of Morin-Ekblad? |

Yes, that would get it done. Trading a mid-round 1st, a young center who's just starting to look like his 4th overall selection was correct, one of our best hopes at a good two-way top-4 defender, adding in a bottom-6 prospect and a young albeit underachieving (this year) defenseman would probably get us a young, promising defenseman with zero pro experience and Zherdev v2.0. |

Does Gagner play wing. How about him instead. I just like the idea of a scoring winger with speed. |

Unless it's one of Hall, Eberle, RnH (maybe), or J. Schultz, I have no interest in a "big" deal with Edmonton for any of their roster players. |

We need more Russians anyway. GO get Yakupov, Kulikov, and Club Nichushkin over the head and dress him in a Flyers uniform.... |

I saw a tweet recently slamming Gagner, who apparently got beat in a puck race by 38 YO Ryan Smyth in a game.
I couldn't tell if it was fact or sarcasm, but it told me all I needed to know about Gagner's wheels.

Man, that 2007 draft class was relatively weak compared to all of the ones around it. After Kane and JvR, a lot of "meh" in the first round. Nothing against McDonagh, Voracek, Alzner, and Couture, but it wasn't packed like the ones surrounding it. Gagner, to me, is kind of the example of that draft. Not really BAD (see some of the mid-90's drafts), but really not that great at all. |

Lind, we usually agree, but the guy is signed for the next 4 years at a 4.5million cap hit.
You need to get him going. Blame management for the signing, but with him here, have to do everything to try and make it work. - flyer_nutter
I hear you, but it's about winning games. If he's not playing well enough, his ice time has to be reduced. Trying to get him going now is kind of like cutting off your nose to spite your face. The thing is, Lecavalier and Downie are both playing miserable hockey right now, the lineup loses a lot of flexibility when you are getting nothing from either of them. |

I think thats the case, but I think theres outside hope he can turn things around with the right combination. Briere was like that. He looked out of place then found chemistry with random guys like Leino and Prospal.
I just don't see Vinny turning it around though. Briere was still getting points during those rough stretches. His lines were just a disaster defensively. - PhillySportsGuy
It's possible he's cooked. Due to injuries/wear and tear. He's a beloved figure in TB, I found it strange that they would pull the plug on him. Perhaps they knew something Holmgren didn't. |
