I am sure that wasn't the plan... but with the dramatic decline of this teams core players.... it is either him or the players.... I just dont mind one more bad year if it means proper rebuild and a chance for the next crosby or Mackinnon (Mcdavid)... I don't want to suck for 5 years plus like edm though, so Kesler and Edler would be my trade choices, but for players that are already almost fully developed or just made the NHL.

Most teams shouldnt take as long as Edmonton. I said all along that Edmonton would take longer because we started the rebuild with sweet (frank) all. Other teams have assets that still have high value that they can trade and sell off to get a rebuild kick started. We started with....Hemsky and Horcoff....

I'm almost certain some offers of genuine interest will materialize by draft day. The cap goes up and teams have all summer to adjust their rosters. The only thing, and it could be big, holding back anything we can realistically get is how Kesler and/or Edler choose to exercise their NTC.

Looks like finishing 12th is the worst/best case scenario(depending on which side of the fence you're on). And the playoffs are extremely unlikely for any Ian Esplen's out there.

Me too... He has messed up a few times but also done some positives..... The Ballard trade stands out as a neg to me and the timing of the hodgson trade.... The NTC also included lower cap numbers for players like Kesler and edler even if they didn't work out for burrows and such so that is not really something to hang your hat on....

It's pretty clear that Torts cannot get more out of this group. It's time they admit they are in rebuild mode. Give Gulutzan the reigns as he is a great communicator and can work with kids as well as the Vets.

They both need to go IMO. This organization needs a refresh.
