I'm guessing that $3000 in NY gets you a 2' x 6' cardboard box. I mean, sturdy cardboard, not that cheap stuff.

My sister rents a $2000 studio in NYC that can't be more than 100-150 sqft. I can't ever imagine living like that. Her bed is a loft, which I guess gives her more room. Her kitchen is a sink next to a stove. No counter space and no oven.

My wife's best friend's apartment is the same way. There's room for a TV on a desk and a toaster, and that's about it, and her rent rivals my mortgage. I don't care how much I love a city, I couldn't live like that.

I know. She always wants me and my fiancé to visit. Im like where the (frank) are we going to sleep. I don't feel like paying $500 for one night of a hotel/parking.

Question: why does the PK get to ice the puck on the PP?

Because the rule book allows it.

This is the kind of fun I was searching for, while I agree that Philly is very cosmopolitan; the herds of homeless people sleeping on the sewage vents tended to bring it down for me quite a bit.

Also you know what makes the Primanti sandwich taste a little better than a Philly cheesesteak, while we eat it, its nice to look at our Stanley Cup winning team photos that are on the walls at all Primanti locations around the Burgh, that aren't in black and white.

I have to admit, this was a good burn.

This is a compelling argument "Your homeless are worse than our homeless"
- PhillySportsGuy

Yeah, tell me about it.. All I ask is that the trolls are creative.. our homeless are better..LOL..

Also, it's always fun to talk about how much better of a franchise the Pens are because they tanked for a full decade in order to win one recent cup and build their current roster..

Don't forget Bettman rescinding the automatic 1-game suspension to Malkin in the SCF for no apparent reason.

They have fewer players, so the other team should be able to somewhat easily regain the zone, maybe?

I don't know. It was probably a decision made by people to stop Montreal from scoring a crazy amount of PPGs. They did the same thing when they allowed a 2-minute minor to end when a team scored, because Montreal would usually score 2+ goals on every PP.

Edit: Interesting rule:
"When a team is “short-handed” by reason of a major penalty, and they have neglected to ensure there is a player on the penalty bench to exit upon the expiry of the penalty, they will continue to play short-handed but are not permitted to ice the puck. Icing will be called. They may substitute for this penalized player at the next stoppage of play"

Also, the WHA never had the rule. Icing was icing, independent of penalties.

Go ahead and throw a wet turd on the fun, very Hextall like.

Sometimes tanking and rebuilding is better than giving insane contracts to washed up players that keep you wallowing in mediocrity while at the same time screw yourselves over in the long run.

Back to the homeless.

Dunno... seems odd that while being punished your team gets to do something that is otherwise illegal.... never made any sense to me.

I've never had a problem with the homeless in Philly. Tbh, most of them are quite friendly. My friend used to have them run errands for him. They'd always bring back the change and my friend would tip him. They never took the money because they knew he wouldn't keep letting them do it if they did.

You know its funny. I was in New Haven Conneticut last week and I was staying in a hotel room, but it was like an apartment. I was thinking, man, I could get used to living in a place like this. Right now I live in a 4 story townhouse. I really only use the kitchen, Livingroom, Bedroom, and bathrooms. The second bedroom(office) just sits and collects junk, and the finished basement just sits and collects junk.

I am so ready to sell and buy a decent Condo unit. I would use the same rooms, and the house maintance and yard work would cut a bunch of time from my schedule. Plus I have a friend that has one, and his complex has a covered garage and the door man will pull your car up for you in the morning and the car will be warm, and they offer a dog walking service....

Sounds almost perfect for the lazy person like me and my wife.

Never liked condos. Just seems like an apartment that you have to pay extra rent on (HOA). Personally, I'm a fan of yardwork and upkeep on my house, lets me do things my own way. But, to each their own.

Ha! You just reminded me about this place I used to go to in college. It is called "No Name" It literally looked like the place was abandoned, but it was diner open till 3 a.m. It sold ping pong balls to get an idea of the crowd they cater too.

Anyway thier speciality sandwhich was called "The Bomb" and there were different variations on it, but it was basically French fried, Motzerella sticks, and chicken fingers on a sub roll, baked with your choice of cheese on top and your choice of sauce... BBQ, Ranch, Honey Mustard.... Perfect hangover/stoner food.

I wonder if they are still open. I would drive 2 hours just to have that one last time...lol... but they would have to change the name from "The Bomb" to "The Suicide" for me.
