If Berube is intent on starting Emery a game this weekend, I would start him Saturday. Emery hasn't started a game since February 8. I'm sure he's going to be rusty. If Mason starts tomorrow, and the Flyers lose, it's a tough situation to put Emery in Sunday in what would be pretty close to a must win game.
I would start Mason in both games. |

I would do Mason/Emery/Mason. As I mentioned before, Pittsburgh is so far ahead that losing to Pittsburgh as opposed to Chicago isn't as different as losing to another Mtro team (like the Rangers or Columbus) as opposed to Chicago. I'd prefer Mason to get 2 starts, and I'd give him the 2 days to rest in between. |

This is the kind of fun I was searching for, while I agree that Philly is very cosmopolitan; the herds of homeless people sleeping on the sewage vents tended to bring it down for me quite a bit.
Also you know what makes the Primanti sandwich taste a little better than a Philly cheesesteak, while we eat it, its nice to look at our Stanley Cup winning team photos that are on the walls at all Primanti locations around the Burgh, that aren't in black and white. - nbartley9
the thing is, the cheese steak is not even phillly's best sandwich. roast pork italian at dinics, johns, or tony lukes is the best sandwich in america. |

Sorry but I will never trust anyone with 2 first names...
I will now slip off my hatred glasses for a moment and just say this has been very enjoyable and witty banter today, very fun.
I have now put them back on.

Go ahead and throw a wet turd on the fun, very Hextall like.
Sometimes tanking and rebuilding is better than giving insane contracts to washed up players that keep you wallowing in mediocrity while at the same time screw yourselves over in the long run.

Guess you never don't like Kevin Stevens and his 50-goal seasons back when the Pens were winning Cups.
Same for Ron Francis.
And Larry Murphy. |

It was a quote from the Office, Michael Scott said it the irony was glorious; and I have never found anything to be more true.. Francis, Murph, and Stevens included. |

this organization will never stop getting horsefranked by officials. every year they lead the league in minor penalties (always in the top 4 or 5 at least) while teams like new jersey, pittsburgh, detroit, are favored and most other teams are treated neutrally. the result by the end of a season is like 'death by 1000 cuts.....like the other night in toronto and against the devils. there are teams that would get both those goals because the call on the ice would favor a ruling of 'good goal'; many team would get 1 out of 2 on a regular basis. it generally isn't 1 horrendous call, although in the playoffs each call is magnified, but rather the confluence of 100's or 1000's of calls that lead to the team playing the equivalent of an entire game more shorthanded than other teams by the end of the year.
i know i'm nuts, and none of this happens and every team gets treated the same and clarence campbell didn't look like he was handing the stanley cup to satan himself when the flyer won it in '74, it just seems that way to me |

Makes sense.... Could just ride Mason too. Flyers have had a fairly light schedule since the Olympic break.
Between the injury/rustiness I don't have much faith in Emery to play well against high caliber opposition. |

I know RIGHT? It's like aliens landed on this board today... Usually it's music, politics, and the bitter smell of pessimism. |

You aren't alone in assuming the refs hate us. It's like we must always have the reputation for being un-disciplined, aggressive, with weak goal tending.
I'm like "Hello?" have you seen our line up?" our hardest hitter is a teeny guy! And as impressive as G is when he plays with a chip on his shoulder he's hardly intimidating... When I first started following this franchise my fiancee warned me - just be prepared for the refs hate our team, the media to hate the fans, and our powerplays to suck...
Damn if that hasn't been pretty much spot on. |
