2 pt Reg or OT win
1 pt SO win
0 pt loss - Crimsoninja
Why not keep the same pts system we have now with 1 small change....
.5 pts for both teams make it to ot and 1.5 to the winner
the .5 might even help with the tie breaker |

??? I don't get the "1-1-1" and "2-1-1." There's more than 7 teams. I'm not trying to be a wiener, I really don't get what you meant by that. Sorry.
But 7-5-5...that's right on the edge. You'd have to hope one or more of Columbus/NJ/Detroit don't get on a big hot streak. - jmatchett383
Sorry. It as a ratio. For every 3 good teams they play they will win 1, lose 1 in regulation and lose 1 in OT. 1:1:1... and repeat the ratio. For "non-good" teams they will win 2, lose 1 in regulation, and lose 1 in OT. So a ratio of 2:1:1 |

even though over time i realized mario was the greatest human to play a sport, initially it was jagr. his name was the coolest thing. he was a young stud.
and honestly, probably a little bit of just being a quirky dopey kid trying to be different when everyone else was lindros lindros lindros |

When the Pens were winning Cups in the early 90's, the Flyers were, basically, a dumpster fire until '95. |

Exactly, all games should be 3 points. If you win in regulation or OT, the winner gets 3, the loser 0. If it goes to breakaways, the winner gets 2, the loser 1.
That would work for me. - BiggE
I'm not crazy about this for a few reasons. First you want to give incentive for teams to finish the game in regulation. In a 3-2-1 point system both teams lose the possibility of a point if they dont try and win in regulation. Same for the Shootout. There are teams that are so good in the shootout they will just sit back and wait for the shootout because they know that are going to win that. In the 3-2-1 system any game that goes to a shoot-out is only worth 1 point. It will make teams "desperate" to win in regulation, and OT.
And Finally by getting rid of the loser point you wont see as much clustering of teams. The good teams will rise up because they will win in regulation more. The not so good teams will sink... But this sinking will eventually help them as thier draft picks will get better and then they can truely become a good team again. |

Jaromir Jagr is one of the coolest names, no doubt about it. Still, that wasn't quite enough to make me a fan of the Pens.
That's quite a pedestal for Mario.
Lindros was no slouch back in the day. You just wanted to be a contrarian...but only for hockey for some reason, or are you also a Cowboys fan? |

FWIW, my prediction on the final standings in the East
Atlantic
Boston 115
Tampa 95 (35 ROW)
Toronto 95 (33 ROW)
Montreal 94
Detroit 93 (34 ROW)
Ottawa 86
Florida 66
Buffalo 59
Metro
Pittsburgh 112
Columbus 96
NY Rangers 95
Flyers 93 (38 ROW)
Jersey 92
Capitals 85
Carolina 82
NY Isles 72
That would just squeak the Flyers in and the 1st round matchups would be:
Pittsburgh vs Philadelphia (think Pens fans will be a bit nervous?)
Rangers vs Columbus
Boston vs Montreal
Tampa vs Toronto
and in the West
Central
St. Louis 117
Chicago 112
Colorado 110
Dallas 99 (38 ROW)
Minny 99 (35 ROW)
Jets 82
Preds 79
Pacific
San Jose 114
Anaheim 111
LA 103
Phoenix 94
Canucks 84
Calgary 72
Edmonton 69
The 1st round matchups would be:
St. Louis vs Minnesota
San Jose vs Dallas
Anaheim vs Los Angeles
Chicago vs Colorado
Of course, I'll probably be wrong on all of these, but what the hey!
