They could have kept Arbuckle as GM, the guy who rebuilt the damned farm system, but NOOOOO they had to promote the guy who is smug without reason. |

yep. like i said, ive accepted the inevitable. they wont be good, for a good while. i thank them for the good times, and now just am trying to find the perks that will come with being a bottom feeder.
i realize it sounds elitist, but (frank) the team being fashionable. at least in the days of travis lee and marlon anderson, you knew where things stood. i remember being a little kid and having entire sections of the vet to myself. now its just full of throngs of douche bag frat bros and stupid whores taking so many selfies you cant even enjoy the game. #letsgoPhillllz - stayinthefnnet

Of course Josh HoSang opens up the scoring against Erie........had to find a game to watch since Laughton is not paying tonight. - ob18
You chose to watch McDavid. Not a bad choice. Are the playoffs just a one and done? Not series? If Oshawa loses, is Laughton eligible to return to the Flyers? |

They are all a best of 7 series, he'd be eligible for the Flyers once his team is eliminated but the Eastern conference is really theirs for the taking. |

I think that's it.
I want him on the Eagles just to hear Merrill Reese say the name "Ha Ha Clinton-Dix" for the next 10+ years on the radio.

They promoted the guy that was practically born in the Phillies organization.
People female dog about the Flyers, with respect to not going outside the organization, but the Phillies are the worst kind of nepotistic, parochial organization, from the top on down.

philadelphia is well known to have a parochial perspective about sports. as far as nepotism - not as legendary, but it's happened. see: snider, jay. |

Ruben Amaro Jr's dad played in the organization and was a long time coach (believe he was a coach on the 1980 team). RAJ was even the bat boy at the time, I think.
Ruben played for the Phillies and, after other front office gigs were handed to him, got the top seat in the organization. He was basically given the keys to a nice car.....that he promptly ran into an abutment on the I95. |

I'm almost inured to the criticism of Philly fans at this point and I am considering embracing the wrong headed view people have of us in the name of showing those people how ridiculous they are when they accuse Philadelphia fans of being worse than any other fanbase. - johndewar
Living in Dallas, I have this debate at least 3 times / year, but mostly centers on Eagles and Phillies fans. They can't let Santa or Irvin issue go. |

It's true Philly sports fans are more tarnished and that's not going to change anytime soon.
With hockey, however, I don't think the same savage/rabid Philadelphia sports fan label can be rightfully implemented. Sure the Flyers Broad Street Bullies history as well as the 'Flyers hockey' label which is defined by hard-working, never quit, beat the opponent senseless / crash the net and 'Ron Sutter' the puck into the net characteristic and tactics is that much different than a lot of other teams around the NHL. Keep in mind also that it was the Flyers getting the poop beaten out of them for Snider to declare 'It will never happen again' - sparking a change in the teams makeup and culture. All teams fans rise up out of their seats in response to a tremendous body check, fight, scrums and the like. |
