From Jason Botchford:

According to Friedman, Colorado is on Kesler’s list. This is a bit of a game changer.

For starters, Kesler’s agent Kurt Overhardt lives in Denver, and that can’t hurt.

Luongo’s agent Pat Brisson strongly suggested he put together the Canucks-Panthers deal in two days, something Gillis and co. couldn’t do in two years.

Maybe Overhardt can go to work in Denver.

The Avs, obviously, have Ryan O’Reilly, who sets the Canucks hearts aflutter on the regular.

And yes, I know the Avs/Roy love ROR.

But ROR is due a $6.5 million qualifying offer in the summer, and he seems to love his money.

UGH

Kes is so much more valuable than that overpaid, overrated, (yes, you guess it) PILLOWBITER.

That's why you'll never be a GM. Daniel has lost his way, but Henrik is still one of the best passers in the league.
- kaptaan

You really think that the Leafs at this point need to sacrifice the future to add a 33 year old who is about to decline?

I'd rather just trade for Owen Nolan again.

So getting back to my "thanks, but no thanks..."

Playing hard, getting injured every year around the same time, and hobbling into the playoffs when your team needs you most is reckless. I know throwing your body around playing at 100% looks very noble but over the course of an 82 game season it isn't a smart application of your efforts.
- AlexF

Then you should trade for Jason Blake - he's a player I think you would really love.

Gillis needs to get creative & find a 3way deal that nets us guys like Evander Kane & (the NHL rights to) Burmistrov if we're exporting a talent like Kesler.

OK, Here is a quick one.

Kesler and Higgins to Col.

ROR and PAP to Winnipeg

Kane and Burmistov to Van.

We still need a playmaker, especially assuming Burmistrov stays in Russia.

That's crazy enough to work. Do either ROR or PAP have a NTC?

Bozak is your number one centre. Nuff said.

Apparenlty Bozak is the best centre in the league, he's ELITE according to Leafs fans.

JVR Bozak Kessel is the best 1st line in hockey, said Leafs fans.

Bernier is a top 10 goalie, despite his stats not showing this.

Oh and the Leafs have more banners in the rafters.

Well, to be fair, Kessel/Bozak/JVR are only the 2nd highest point producing line in the NHL this season--so you're technically correct.

I'd love if someone could find me a better link--pain in the butt to search all 30 teams, but it only takes a minute I suppose.

Also, Bernier is tied for 5th in the NHL for SV%.

http://espn.go.com/nhl/st.../goaltending/sort/savePct

It's always tough to rate a "top 10" list for goalies because people use different stats to make their case, mainly GAA, SV%, and Wins. I tend to think of SV% as the best stat to use though, since the other two are very team-influenced compared to SV%.

So yeah, I think a case could be made for Bernier being top-10 this year.

I was looking at these stats and I noticed something quite funny. Schneider, Luongo and Lack all have a .918 SV%

But Lack has the best shootout save percentage that must mean hes the better goalie.

I find it hilarious that all you have to do is mention the Leafs and a Leaf poster will comment within a few minutes. They're like vultures circling around just waiting for carrion to appear.

Sorry EDM fans, but the saddest stat has to be Ben Scrivens: highest SV% in the league, playing out of his mind, and barely a 50% win rate.

Eddie Lack was tied for 5th in sv% when Luongo was traded. You can see why Gillis didn't hesitate as it was obvious he had a top 5 goalie in the league.

Testing: I think Jonathon Bernier is overrated, you guys remember when Reimer was doing good earlier in the year? This is the same, book it.
